Heinz Fruity Custard
Advantages: My daughter loves it
This is a review of Heinz Fruity Custard which is enjoyed by my 15 month old daughter. The packaging advises it is suitable for children aged 4 - 36 months so it is quite a versatile item. I picked up loads of packs when these were on offer as they had a good use by date on them too.
Each cardboard tube houses four pots. They have lids on them and a peel back plastic top. This can be difficult to open sometimes I find (particularly if I have wet or greasy hands which is often the case after the first course!). At first I thought I would reuse the pots for freezing food but I don't as I have better ones that are more sturdy that came with some other food so I just put these in the recycling box with the cardboard tube.
My daughter loves this fruity custard but I think it doesn't actually taste that nice! It's not really sweet either yet she always finishes her pot which is 100g.
I paid £1 for four pots when these were on offer and I think that's a great price, comparing it to other individually packaged desserts. I think they were from Tesco at the time but it could have been Asda.
These pots are great to pack for on the go as they don't need to go in the fridge. They don't leak and are a great option to have when out and about. I like to pack a few things in case we're having a fussy day but these don't take up a lot of room and are usually well received by my daughter.
The packaging states that each pot provides two of a baby's five a day which is a good thing. They also have vitamin C and no added sugar in them or artificial colours or preservatives. Fruity custard is a guilt free treat you can give your child that they will most likely enjoy.
These are a great dessert for children and a change from yoghurt which I seem to give her all the time. They are easy to swallow so for older children may be good with some actual fruit to give it more texture and something to chew! My daughter loves these and I will stock up again next time they are on offer. Whilst I haven't needed to save any for later, the re closable lids are handy and give you peace of mind when you are taking them out and about.
