Advantages: Excellent flavour with a nice chilli kick

Disadvantages: Not the best value for money

We are quite a regular buyer of the Heinz Mexican and BBQ Mean Beanz and decided this week that we would try out the Sweet Chilli flavour. We thought that it would go perfectly with a bacon and cheese omelette and were not disappointed.

Packaging: The beans are contained wthin a standard tin can, but the mostly black paper label has a wild west theme which the Heinz Mean Beanz - Sweet Chilli description looking like a "wanted" poster. The label also has a picture of the beans with nachos, sour cream and guacamole which is one of the serving recommendations. The can weighs 390g.

Appearance and smell: The haricot beans look very similar to a standard can of baked beans, and the sauce is the same dark red colour. However, there are a lot of small pieces of chilli in the sauce which is an encouraging sight if you like a bit of spice in your food like me. In terms of the smell, the sauce is dominated by a light tomato flavour again with a hint of spice.

Taste: The taste is superb and the beans really combined well the omelette. After cooking the beans on a medium heat for a few minutes, the beans were nice and soft, and the sauce had quite a spicy kick, enough to let you know these beanz mean business.

Value for money: This can was 64p, which is roughly the same price as a standard single can of Heinz baked beans. This does not represent the best value for money, but the flavour was excellent and make a really good alternative if you fancy a change from the same old regular beans.

Overall: I really enjoyed these Sweet Chilli beans and thought that they had a excellent flavour with a nice chilli kick. The value for money is not great, but if you fancy a spicy change, then this could be the product for you.

Summary: If you fancy a spicy change this could be the product for you
