Heinz Salad Cream

Description: Manufacturer: Heinz. Salad cream.

Newest Review: ... they are usually cheaper, this one is definitely the best. It is thick and creamy (best to shake before pouring) and has ... more

... just the right mixture of sweetness and tangyness. Ingredients are as follows: Spirit Vinegar. Vegtable Oil. Water. Sugar. Egg Yolks. Cornflour, Stablisers. contains egg, mustard. Definitely recommend this brand of salad cream, it may seem worth trying others if they are cheaper, but chances are that like me, you will end up reverting to Heinz. Fish finger sandwiches would not be the same without it!...more

Premium Review Heinz Salad Cream: DOES YOUR SALAD DESERVE THE ROYAL TREATMENT !!! (347 words)

HEINZ SALAD CREAM Well what can i say, basically that Heinz Salad Cream simply is the best salad cream that i have tried, and i do use a lot of salad cream nowdays. Not only do i like to use a drop of salad cream on top of a salad sandwich, to give it that creamy added taste i use it on the side of a plate of ploughmans lunch or a ham salad to give that little extra. I brought mine in a glass bottle and it cost a mere £1.25p for a glass bottle full 285g. You just cant beat the unique taste and quality that most of Heinz products have to offer. Ingredients ********** Spirit Vinegar. Vegtable ...  Read the complete review

We enjoy Heinz salad cream in our house but it seems that is is becoming somewhat of a rarity in restaurants, superceeded by mayonnaise. Don`t get me wrong, mayonnaise is fine but I still think that Salad cream is the tastier of the two. A cold meat or fish salad and new potatoes is wonderful with some salad cream to accompany it and egg sandwiches just aren`t the same without Heinz salad cream. But as eating habits have changed it is now `trendy` to have Mayo rather than salad cream AND I have to admit that I love garlic mayo myself. Call me daft but I `Googled` Heinz salad cream to see if there was any interesting information about the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Heinz Salad Cream: Heinz salad cream.. an oldy but goody (430 words)

Heinz salad cream is a real British classic. It has been around as far as I am aware since the second world war and its appeal is a bit akin to that of brown sauce, we love it, it has enduring appeal but we dont really know why. Some years ago Heinz anounced they were to withdraw production of their salad cream and there was a national outcry. It was on the news. I have to say I was gutted. Its been a part of my food life since I was tiny. Thankfully they changed their mind, probably just a great marketing ploy. Theres something very working class about salad cream. My family are definately working class (not a very pc term but you know what I mean) ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Brit classic (417 words)

Heinz salad cream has been around for many years. It was first made in 1925 in London where it was mostly made by hand. It then became more popular in the second world war. This was because the food was rationed and what was available was rather bland. People used the salad cream to add a tangy flavour to their food. It was originally packaged in glass bottles with screw lid, but now they use mainly plastic bottles. These are the upside down style that have the easy to use flip lid. This is much better design, I can still remember the horrid gunk that used to collect around the lid of the glass bottles. The salad cream itself is a very nice ...  Read the complete review

There was a feature on the news a few years ago saying that Heinz Salad Cream was going to be dropped from the Heinz range of products. There was a huge outcry! You would have thought that the invasion of Britain was imminent people were so incensed. Needless to say, the good folk of this land voted with their feet (and supermarket trolleys) and the humble salad cream was saved for the country. Hurray! Frankly, I think it was a covert publicity stunt but we'll never know will we? :) The squeezy bottle costs about 70p for 460grammes. (why 460? why not 500? isn't that odd?) The flip top lid can collect bits of salad cream and become a bit grungy but it ...  Read the complete review
