 ... fat. Now I don't know about you but I expected this and never assumed for a second this would be low in fat, calories or sugar but as an occasional treat I'm not too worried. So the custard. The first thing you notice is of course the consistency. This custard is nice and thick, not too thick and stodgy, just right so it pours onto your dessert but doesn't turn into a lumpy mess. The smell is very sweet and appetising, a nice vanilla kind of scent. The main question though is how does it taste? It tastes divine! ...more

A couple of months ago our local Heron were doing a promotion on this Heinz Taste of Home Gorgeous Classic Creamy Custard (yes, that's really what it's called!) where you could buy 4 tins for a pound. Seeing this was a real bargain I stocked up and have to say I'm hooked! The custard is ready made and comes in a 425g tin with a ring pull. The can is as the picture above with a distinctive purple label with "custardy" looking text and a picture of custard. The nutritional stats are as follows per half a can: 213 calories, 5.3g protein, 33.4g carbohydrates, 25.7g sugars and 6.4g fat.
