Advantages: Quick, tasty, not unhealthy

Disadvantages: Not massive portion

A couple of years ago I called round to my sister's house and she was just finishing her lunch. I couldn't help but notice just how nice her lunch smelt so asked her what she had. It was a Heinz Weight Watchers Chicken Curry. My sister isn't fat in any way so I asked her why she was eating Weight Watchers (WW) food. 'Because they taste great!' was the answer. Fair enough. So I bought a WW Chicken Curry, and it tasted really good, see my previous Dooyoo review on it. When I bought the chicken curry I noticed WW had a whole range of quick ready meals, one of which being WW Chicken Hotpot.

The Chicken Hotpot consists of slices of chicken breast in a creamy sauce with carrots, peas and mushrooms, topped with parmentier potatoes. I've never heard of parmentier potatoes, basically they are little roasted potato cubes, and very tasty they are too.

The meal comes in the standard pinky purpley box with a picture of the hotpot on the front. It clearly states that the meal will cost Weight Watchers point users (a system for losing weight where users can only eat a certain number of points a day) 4 1/2 points, it has 271 calories and is less than 3% fat. So it seems pretty health to me (when eaten as part of a balanced diet of course!).

The meal can either be cooked in a microwave or a regular oven. It takes 7 - 8 minutes in a microwave on full power or 40 - 45 minutes in a conventional oven at 200 degrees C. I have always used the microwave option when I have ever had it. I imagine the conventional oven would leave the dish a bit crispier on top.

The taste is very good for a ready meal, especially a calorie controlled one. I was surprised by just how creamy the sauce was, and the chicken was very tender. The portion isn't massive but it is a weight lose product so I didn't expect it to be. There is enough to satisfy an average appetite.

The meal normally costs about £1.40 in supermarkets, but I've bought it for £1 in Tesco's on offer, and two for £2 in Asda. It's available in the frozen ready meals section.

Summary: Very good ready meal

Sounds nice, I've tried a couple of the weight watchers ready meals - useful for when you dont have time to cook
