Heinz Tomato Ketchup
by hello1977
Ok, I know there are cheaper brands of ketchup, but heinz beats them all the time, the others have to much vinegar in them and taste disgusting, heinz has the balance just right, it's not to tomatoey and tastes great!
Sometimes, it can be abit expensive so if you get it whilst its on the deals it's well worth the money, also ... it doesn't go out of date quickly so I often pick a few bottles up whilst it's on the offers. Also, ketchup is the base of many other sauces and can be used to create other by mixing them up, so you definitely want it to taste good to be the base of your meals!
It goes great with many other things aswell, steaks, sausages, bacon and chips! I can't eat chips without ketchup! Overall, it's not unhealthy either having 20 calories per table spoon and literally no fat, it does have salt in it, but not to high.
Well worth it for the taste! Read the complete review |

Heinz Fruity Custard
by karlsm93
My six month old daughter is now on three solid meals per day and at the moment (possible growth spurt but who knows!) can't seem to get enough. With her dinner I have started to give her a little dessert afterwards which so far has been a yogurt, which she absolutely loves, so much so I have to watch that she doesn't over indulge and ... bring it up again! Rather than always yogurt however I wanted her to try something else have her dinner and I had picked up a few weeks ago, when on offer, these Heinze fruity custard pots. I had bought them at the time due to the price thinking I would not use them for a while, but with her now eating a little dessert after her dinner, I decided now was the time to give one a go.
These Heinz fruit custard pots comes in a four pack, with each little pot having its own recloseable lid, which I have to say is VERY handy. There are several flavours available, but since my daughter is such a fan of mashed banana, I thought the 'fruity banana' would go down well. I wouldn't say that these pots are cheap cheap. I bought them at the time or £1 when on offer, but you would usually expect to pay around £1.75 for this four pot pack. Now given that I only give my little girl half a pot after her dinner, and that you can reclose the lid and keep in the fridge for 24 hours so that I can give her the rest the next evening, this means I can get at least 8 servings out of this pack, which makes it better value.
These fruity custard pots are suitable for children from as young as four months up to 36 months. Due to the fruit content, in this case, bananas with some apple as well, a serving of this custard, provides baby with 2 of the recommended 5 a day servings of fruit/veg. Heinz also promotes these pots as being full of vitamin C, and at the same time containing no added sugar, preservatives, colours or artificial flavours. Heinz also suggests that these pots can be given as a breakfast, a snack or dessert. To be honest, I can't imagine giving these to my daughter for her breakfast, as custard just doesn't seem an appropriate breakfast. I can imagine however giving her one of these pots as a snack as she gets older and her appetite increases.
I do like to make most of my daughters own food but I do like to have some handy food in the cupboard, such as these pots, and with so much added fruit it certainly can't be too bad for her.
My daughter had got quite used to her yogurt after her dinner and recognises the little petit filous carton, so when I brought out this custard pot, think at first, she thought it was more dinner which she clearly didn't want, and kept her mouth firmly shut. However, once I managed to get the teeniest bit into mouth and she realised it was something equally as nice as a yogurt after her dinner, the mouth started to open very readily, and the half pot of custard was devoured within a few minutes, with her obviously having enjoyed it. She has a bit of a sweet tooth, and this just ticks all the boxes for her, but I am glad that she is getting the fruit within it. When I first gave it to her, I tried a little myself before serving it to her, and I have to say, that despite me already being a big fan of custard myself, this really was delicious, and I could have ate more if it hadn't been for my daughter!
All in all, I like the fact that this product can be used as a snack or dessert and contains two portions of fruit making it a healthy dessert option, and one that my daughter absolutely loves. At full price these pots aren't cheap, but with my daughter only taking half a pot after her dinner at the moment, they aren't too bad in terms of value. When she progresses onto eating a whole pot, I think I will start looking at making up custard for her to enjoy, but in the meantime I will continue to purchase these as a dessert.
