Advantages: Great taste, recyclable packaging, I can't notice a difference in taste.
Disadvantages: None
I am always on the look out for a product which tastes the same or similar to it's standard equivalent but with less calories and/or fat.
There is just 96 calories per 100g of this mayonnaise which is fantastic as it means I can still throw it on my chicken when making my 'chicken mess' and feel a lot less guilty about the additional calories.
The mayonnaise is provided in a glass jar with a metal screw top lid (both of which can be recycled) and there is 400g of mayonnaise in the jar for £1.69 from Tesco or 600g for £2.45 (also available elsewhere at miscellaneous prices).
This mayonnaise is designed to be kept in the fridge once opened as it is made with eggs.
The taste is not dissimilar to it's full fat full calorie equivalent and the taste is delicious, it's fantastic when cold as an addition to most meals. I like to have it with chicken, chips, in sandwiches, with jacket potatoes and there is really no end to the amount of things you can use this mayonnaise with, just have a little imagination!
I would definitely recommend swapping the standard equivalent to this product as there is not much difference in price and the difference in taste is so minimal to me and I'm normally quite a fussy mare!
I think this product is fantastic value for money and I would always recommend the Hellmanns variety over anything else as in my opinion it's the original and the best.
Once opened it should keep for a couple of weeks in the fridge but remember to read the label for further details as it's important to keep good standards with products like mayonnaise.
I am rating this product 5/5 as the packaging is recyclable and the product itself tastes delicious and does not let me down at all. I was anxious that as it was the 'extra light' version that something crucial would be lacking but if it is I haven't noticed the difference in taste!
Summary: I would highly recommend this to replace your higher fat standard version.
