Hershey's Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter
Advantages: taste, consistency, yum!
Disadvantages: small bag, not available in many places
Whilst watching a film last night I wanted something tasty to munch on and having been to Morrisons earlier that day I had bought a few goodies in, one of which was a bag of Reese's Pieces. Not normally a fan of peanut butter by itself I was only introduced to this range a few months ago when the bars were on offer and this was my first experience of the pieces variety.
Contained in a bright orange bag as shown above, the weight is 43 grams and you are informed that these are peanut butter candy in a crunchy shell. When opened the contents of the bag remind me of mini-M&M's smaller in diameter than Smarties and in earthy brown colours.
Similar to Smarties and M&Ms each piece has a hard outer shell over a centre of smooth peanut butter. Once bit into the smooth butter centre is a savoury contrast to the sweet shell and these are incredibly moreish. Allowing them to melt in your mouth releases all the flavour and these really are unlike anything else available to buy.
I usually find peanut butter to be quite stodgy and sickly so don't tend to eat it out of a jar, but the small amount contained here combined with chocolate really is delicious and I found myself enjoying every single one. I am pleased that they are only available in the smaller size bags rather than the larger hanging ones as I could easily see me making a pig of myself if they were available in a larger size.
Being an American company; Hershey and manufactured in the US the bag does not provide any nutritional information which I wouldn't normally have noticed but would have liked to include in my review. Being a peanut butter based treat I can't imagine they would be healthy for you as peanuts are well known for having a high fat and calorie content. Luckily due to the small size of the bag and the limited contents within I wouldn't have thought that they would be that calorific but don't quote me on that!
I did enjoy these Reese's Pieces and would thoroughly recommend them to anyone who is fond of peanut butter. Delicious and a change from the norm they were well received by me and I would definitely buy them again. They don't seem to be available all over the place like Cadburys and Nestle and I bought my bag in Morrisons for 55p, if you can get hold of any then give them a try; they really are a tasty little treat that more than satisfied my sweet tooth.
4/5 Dooyoo star rating from me, losing a star for the lack of nutritional information and the smallness of the bag, 43 grams isn't a lot and definitely left me wanting more.
Summary: Reese's peanut butter pieces, delicious!
