... Baxters brand ( a bit pricier though), or maybe some of the Supermarkets own brands to see is their salt content is lower. I think a can is around 80 pence in my local Asda but at the moment they are doing a special offer of 4 tins for £2 which is really cheap, working out at 50 pence a can. I am still undecided if Heinz is the best I need to test a few others which is why I have only given it 4 out of 5. I'm off to heat the bread now....yum!...more

Premium Review Heinz Oxtail Soup: I Miss My Bit Of Tail (528 words)

Heinz are great, aren't they, especially their soup range. It just goes to show that *SOME* good things come out of America, as it was a 25-year-old American called Henry John Heinz who started up this now multi-national giant of a corporation way back in 1868. I was reared on Heinz products, (amongst other things) and one of my favourites was always Heinz Oxtail Soup. (As well as their delicious baked beans) It has a really strong flavour of meat, or more specifically oxtail (surprise, surprise) and is just perfect for a confirmed carnivore like myself. In fact, when I'm sharing a tin of this soup with somebody else I always try to ensure I get the last ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Yummy soup for a chilly day (301 words)

Henry John Heinz founded his legendary food company in 1868 with, of all things, horseradish sauce. In 1910, Heinz Tomato Soup made its debut and twenty years later, Oxtail Soup was launched. Nowaday, Heinz sell 289 million cans of soup a year in the UK alone. Heinz Oxtail Soup comes in their trademark red label tins with a handy ring pull lid. It is available in two sizes - 300g and 400g. In appearance, Oxtail Soup looks a lot like gravy. Nice gravy, the sort your mum makes with all the crusty bits from the bottom of the roasting tin, but gravy nonetheless. It has a slight oily sheen to it and is medium brown in colour. When you ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Heinz Oxtail Soup: Thick warm soup on a cold day! (346 words)

Heinz Oxtail Soup is one of those soups you either love or hate. I however fall into the former category hence the review. Heinz has been going for years and is one of; in not the top; favourite soups in this country (well I'm guessing that selling Heinz managing to sell 289 million cans a year makes them popular!). The Heinz tin is in the classic and unmistakeable red can with a picture of a steaming hot bowl of soup on the front and is in a 400 gram recyclable tin. Now for the nutritional info (all based on a 400 gram tin):- 156 Calories 7.6 grams Carbohydrates 2 grams of fat (of which 0.8 grams is saturates) 1.2 grams of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Extremely Tasty! (357 words)

Its debatable what is the best brand of soup available today. There are many popular brands, Heinz, Baxters and Bachelors, however more often than not I always purchase Heinz soups, Oxtail being my all time favourite ever since I was a kid. The Heinz brand has been producing soup since 1910, tomato being the first flavour that was made, and over the years they have continued to add new flavours to the varieties. The Heinz soup packagaing hasn't changed much over the years as far as I can remember. In a 400g tin, with a red label wrapped around the can. On the oxtail can it shows a bowl of the specific flavoured soup at the bottom of the label and in ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Heinz Oxtail Soup: Halloween , A soup to warm your coven on Halloween (671 words)
by - written on 09/10/06 (Very useful, 702 readings)

Heinz foods were founded in 1868 by a 25 year old American Henry John Heinz his first product was horseradish sauce. Now Heinz is one of the leaders in packaged food stuffs. In 1930 they started making oxtail soup. One of Heinz soups I like is oxtail soups. If you have a coven of young spooks and spookesses I would recommend this soup to warm them up after a chilly Halloween night of spooking. You may not really brew real bones for this soup or add any eyes of newt but oxes tails have been stewed a long time to make this hearty soup .You can buy this soup at Tesco for 59p for 400g. This soup is also available at a lot of other food stores too. So get ...  Read the complete review
