Advantages: Meaty and tasty

Disadvantages: none really

Now that summer has well and truly gone off to bed we can look forward to some pretty cold days ahead. Fortunately there are a few things we can do to help keep out the winter chill.

There are obviously the usual things like wrapping up well and turning up the heating a few degrees, but there is a better and tastier way to keep warm and help fight of Mr frost and co.

Heinz have been keeping Britain fed for quite a few years now and their product range in quite extensive especially in the soup department. Now I'm not a great lover of soup and in fact i usually prefer home made, but I'll make an exception in the case of Heinx Oxtail soup. It is both very tasty and filling.....................mind you i do tend to have a good few slices of thick bread with mine so that might at least partly be responsible for it filling me so much.

The soup which comes in Heinz's standard tin size which is 400g. It is emblazoned with heinz logo and is also the usual red colour. It has the words Oxtail Soup under a picture of a bowl of oxtail which does not really do justice to the contents.

The soup to me seems thicker than other varieties of heinz soup and is a nice soft brown colour. There are pieces of carrot and on ocassion deveral pieces of chunky meat which I am hoping is Ox tail. The soup has a rich meaty taste and also has quite a pleasant smell, although the smell does not impart the odour one would expect from a meat based product.

It is very reasonably priced at around 55p - 65p and is quite often on a special offer in ASDA. It is a very good buy and just what the doctor ordered on these bitter afternoons when the chill really starts to get it teeth in.

Summary: A very tasty and satisfying soup.

I cannot bring myself to eat this even though I know it is very tasty!

There's something yukky about the notion of eating something made from an ox's tail.
