Garlic Butter I know this might seem like an easy thing to make but most people wouldn't really think of making it and just buy it in the shops. I think it's alot better home-made...as with most things! My mum taught me this before I went to university so that I could brighten up my meal-times! Use as much butter as you want, depends how much you want to garlickify! Let the butter soften and add as much garlic as you like (this is why i like making my own because supermarket stuff always has too much garlic in it!) Make sure your garlic is nice and finely chopped and blend it into the butter. If you wish you can add some peppercorns ... Read the complete review

I don't know if anyone else saw that cooking show a little while ago where thy advised you to do a jacket spud, hollow out the spud bit, mash it with cheese n stuff then refill the skins, wrap in foil n bake for a little longer?? Well, if you did or even if you thought of this yourself, don't bother. I attempted this recently and it did not work. The 'simly hollow out the spud' line is all lies, it aint simple. The skin all tore, i mean it was ripped to hell. Completely UN-refillable. Useless! I spent ages waiting for my spuds to cook to make this yummy dinner idea, and it was a huge flop!! I was so annoyed that i wound up having crisps ... Read the complete review

I have loved cooking ever since I made my first batch of crispy cornflake cakes in Brownies, aged seven! Since then I've graduated to slightly more taxing creations, but the pleasure I get out of producing something delicious (and occasionally nutritious!) for other people to eat is exactly the same. Good home cooking is not something you can pick up overnight. It's a learning process and it takes a lot of practice. It helps if you love cooking, as I think the enthusiasm bubbles over into the food and it actually tastes better. A weird theory but I stand by it! There are some things you can do to get the best out of your cooking, and I've ... Read the complete review

I don't know if I am the best person to write this opinion as I am hardly the best cook in the world, but when I left home at 17, I had to learn pretty quickly! And considering when I first moved in with my boyfriend all we had in the kitchen was a microwave, I think I have done quite well! Whether you go away to university or not, at some point in your life you will have to fend for yourself. Even if you win the lottery and have a live in cook (you can dream), cooking is a useful skill and you can use it to impress potential lovers! So although it is not necessary to buy a complete set of gourmet cookery books and learn every trick of the trade, a grasp of ... Read the complete review

The humble potato has formed part of our staple diet for centuries. And its great! Boiled, fried, baked, or roasted. Fresh out of the ground, or used after storing, its on our plates, but I think many of us still tend to under use this most versatile of vegetables. Especially since rice and pasta dishes became so popular. So in order to redress the balance here are few of my favourite ‘potato’ recipes. 1)Potato Pastry. This can be used to ‘top’ any savoury filling of your choice to replace puff, shortcrust or suet pastry. Or alternatively can be cut into squares after rolling, and ‘ dry’ ...
