Advantages: Simply delicious, Cheap but wholesome meal

Disadvantages: Farting, LOL...

Ah, homemade food recipes, what an interesting category.

I thought I’d add my expertise on the good old British dish of “Baked Beans on Toast”, those good old Beans in a rich tomato sauce, I absolutely love them and especially so if they are made my way.

I have my own special way of making the simple dish of Beans on Toast just that little bit more interesting, the recipe can be found further down the opinion, but firstly I will give you a bit of background on that oh so simple, but ever so useful foodstuff, Baked Beans.

So what exactly are Baked Beans?

Well, a tin of Baked Beans consists of Haricot Beans baked in an oven to a certain degree and then covered in a delicious Tomato Sauce with added secret spices, which are the secret to Heinz baked Beans having their own unique taste.

Baked Beans are an ideal source of protein, very low in fat, a good source of Fibre and Iron and they are Cholesterol free (although they are said to be pretty high in Sugar), amongst other things and it is said they are actually one of the most useful of foodstuffs available. It has also been suggested that they are actually Britain’s best-loved food and I agree, I just could not imagine surviving without the good old Baked Beans, OK, that’s going a bit far, but I really do love them.

My favourite Baked beans recipe is Beans on Toast, with some grated Cheddar Cheese and a Fried Egg and it is absolutely delicious, and here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

1 tin of Heinz Baked Beans
3 rounds of White Bread
1 Egg
1 portion of grated Cheddar Cheese.

Instructions:

Cook the Beans on toast as you would normally do, at the same time, add an Egg to the frying pan and fry to your desired consistency (hard or soft yolk) and grate a portion of cheese (just enough to cover one piece of toast). Once the beans are cooked, serve them out on a piece of the toast and cover with
the cheese, now place the Beans on toast covered with the cheese under a heated grill for about 60 seconds (just enough time for the cheese to start to melt), once this is done add the fried egg to the top and serve immediately.

Believe me, if you like Beans, Cheese and Eggs, you will absolutely love this menu and is a perfect lunchtime snack that is packed with protein and vitamins, it will give you the energy to complete any strenuous tasks and maybe put hairs on your chest. Another thing Baked Beans are ideal for are topping Baked Potatoes, just a simple meal, but thoroughly nutritious and delicious.

A Few facts about Heinz Baked Beans:

Did you know that Heinz actually export their Baked Beans to over 60 countries worldwide, these countries include Russia and China?

Did you know, that the secret recipe of the spices that Heinz uses, is said to be only known to FOUR people worldwide?

Did you know, that at the turn of the century, Heinz Baked Beans were actually sold as a Luxury foodstuff that most people could not actually afford?

Did you know, a serving of Baked Beans and a glass of Milk actually supplies over a third of the daily needs of vitamins B1, B2, Iron, as well as three-quarters of the required Calcium?

(These four facts were in fact stolen of the Internet, come on, you didn’t expect me to know these facts, did you?)

Why do Baked Beans make you pass wind (Fart)?

Well the answer lies with you, everybody actually digests Beans in a different manner, in other words, some people can digest Beans easier than others, and this is down to two certain starches that exist in most Beans and Pulses, the two starches are Stachyose and Raffinose, these starches break down very slowly and cause the build up of wind inside your digestive system, the result being a Fart.

So there you have it, Heinz Baked Beans, one of the most common foodstuffs available on our shelves, yet t
hey are simply packed with goodness and are so versatile, and along with the Pork Sausage variety, Heinz also do other varieties, these include Curried Beans, Cheesy Beans, Bolognese Beans, Barbecue Beans, as well as low sugar and salt varieties.
