Hot and spicy

Tiss nearly the season to be merry. So I was looking out a couple of my warming drinks recipes and thought I would pass them on.
Mulled wine
There are various recipes for this seasonal drink. Many a tale of a merry time and a headache or a session with the head over the toilet. Will give an alcoholic one first then a non-alcoholic one.

Mulled wine
2 bottles red wine it will taste better with a good wine but not essential, as the spices will flavour it.
1pint water
1 pint orange juice (or can be water)
6 tablespoons sugar (or honey)
1 orange stuck with cloves
2 inch cinnamon stick.
2 lemons sliced
2 oranges sliced

Optional2 tbsn brandy or fruit liquor (cointreau cherry brandy)

Method add all the ingredients apart from brandy or fruit liquor
Heat slowly till just simmering DO NOT BOIL heat for about 20 minutes
Pour into serving bowl add brandy/ fruit liquors and serve warm.

A tip for a Christmas present

A bottle of red wine
An orange
A lemon
A cinnamon stick or two tied to the wine bottle with a red ribbon
And the recipe printed out.
Gave this to a work mate last year

I have a recipe for a non-alcoholic drink so the kids don?t think they are missing out.
1pint apple juice
1pint orange juice
¼ pint water
½ teaspoon mixed spice.
½ teaspoon ground ginger
1orange
Method Place ingredients into a saucepan bring just up to boil, simmer for 5 /10 minutes on a low heat serve from a bowl with some added slices of orange, lemon, apple

Another non-alcoholic recipe is
1pint apple juice 2 whole cloves 1/. 2 cinnamon stick 2 tablespoon blackcurrant cordial a little sugar () to taste) apple sliced to garnish
Method
Put apple juice, cloves, cinnamon stick in saucepan heat just below boiling for 5-10 min?s add blackcurrant cordial and sugar to taste garnish with sliced appl
e
These recipes can be adapted extras added changed taste as you go along that?s part of the fun
Hicc Hicc oh well of to work

Well have yourselves a merry little Christmas thanks for reading

I'm DEFINITELY doing mulled wine this year. I have all the ingrediants, but I fear I'm the only person in the house who'll drink it! Hey ho, I'm sure I'll struggle through!
