The sun is shining and I'm waiting for my husband to cook tea on the barbecue. In my hand is a glass of home-made iced Elderflower cordial, lovely. It is very easy to make your own elderflower cordial especially for me as I live very rural, so I just take a summertime stroll around the local fields and come home with a carrier bag full of elderflower heads. What you need for 3 litres of Cordial: 50 Elderflower Heads - Free from your local countryside 2.4 litres of water - free from your tap 1.8 kg granulated or caster sugar £1.70 or 1 kg of Silverspoon light granulated sugar (£1.50) 4 oranges sliced - Tesco Value £1.00 for ... I love drinking homemade smoothies in summer. I'm working full time at the moment (stupid university tuition fees) and the fruity drinks are a quick and delicious way to contribute to my 5-a-day. Smoothies are easy to make, you need fresh fruit, ice and some fantasy. These are my favourite recipes - not all are healthy though. -------------------------------- The Rainbow Mix -------------------------------- This is my favourite smoothie, mostly because you can use all the fruit you find in your fridge. I'll normally take: - 3 Strawberries (red) - 3 plums (Yellow) - 1 kiwi (green) - 3 blackberries ... Read the complete review

Last year for my birthday I decided to throw a Hawaiian themed do! I don't normally go for celebrating my birthday with a party, normally a nice meal and drinks with friends, however last year was an impressive year for me and felt that I need to really celebrate with friends and family! I had it all planned the decor and food but when it came down to the drinks, this proved a difficult point, most people drive and therefore I wanted to give them interesting drinks, as the alcoholic drinks which I had planned were cocktails. I didn't want the people who couldn't drink to feel left out!! So after a few hours extensive research (i'm an obsessive ... Read the complete review

Refreshing Lemon Drink. This drink tastes especially good on a hot summers day when chilled in the fridge. Also though, due to the well known health properties of lemon it is also ideal in winter as a way of soothing coughs/colds/sore throats etc. The drink itself is extremely easy to make and doesn't take too long. This particular recipe will make just over a pint, but can easily be adapted to make more or less as required. Ingredients: 1 lemon. 2 tablespoons of sugar. 1 pint of cold water. Method: 1. Cut the lemon into approximately 8 chunks and place into a ... Read the complete review

When I was pregnant, the one thing I really craved was a real drink! Probably because I knew I couldn't have one, we women always want what we can't have.....! Anyway, I started looking online for non alcoholic cocktails that might take my fancy. I wanted to be able to make it myself, so I know exactly what went into it as I wasn't keen on drinking anything with additives or e numbers in it. After lots of searching I found a recipe for Ginger Beer. I hadn't drunk this for years so I thought I'd give it a try! It does take some preparation as some of the ingredients need to be prepared and left overnight, so no good if you want some ... Read the complete review
