Advantages: refreshing drink, easy to conjur up

Disadvantages: can't always get melon in shops, can be expensive

I came across this recipe for a non-alcoholic drink in the Daily Mail newspaper and thought I would give it a try. it is made with Melon and Mango, which I love the taste of.
Apparently Melon is a safeguard against cancer and the Cantaloupe Melon was traditionally used in China to treat hepatitis and also used as a remedy for Kidney and Bladder problems. In the Philippines the seeds were thought to help beat Cancer and in India they are a Diuretic.

If you have half a Cantaloupe Melon it provides nearly 100% of the daily recommended Vitamin C, intake. A recent experiment done by germans and Argentinian researchers shows that Cantaloupe Melon stopped blood cells from clumping together, and prevented blood clots. Even better was to take an aspirin and this effect along with the melon worked well together.
Melon seeds support the immune system, and cardiovascular system , and in return helps regulate fat levels and is good for healthy skin, nails and is good for your nerves.

THE DRINK
***********
1/2 Mango, cut it up into cubes
2 1/2 0z /80g of cantaloupe Melon, cut up into cubes
1/5 pt/125ml Fortified Soya Milk
1 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, or use sweetner to taste.

After dicing all the ingredients except the milk and sugar of course, add them to a blender or liquidiser and it will turn into a puree.
I got my milk out of the fridge, as I like my drinks ice cold, if not I suppose you could always add an ice cube.
Pour into a glass and add straw, it's now ready to drink.

It's a lovely refreshing drink, especially in the summer months.

This sounds absolutely gorgeous and I am going through a non-alcoholic phase at the moment so will definitely try this. Thanks!

With you all the way right up to soya milk - yuk!
I'm sure normal milk can be safely swopped in and this does sound very scrummy - shame that the weather is more suited for leek & potato soup at the mo!

Another good non alcoholic drink for hot days is cranberry fizz - just mix cranbery juice and sparkling mineral water, with a small amount of lemon juice. Low cal, rich in vit C and helps protect against cystitis.
