Some people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day - but for me, it really isn't. I'll often eat a bowl of cereal in the morning, yet half the time I don't bother, and will be happy enough with a cup of coffee or an apple. Having said that, when I do find time for a morning snack, there are certain products which are at the top of the shopping list. One such item is Nestle's 'Honey Nut Shredded Wheat' - a bitesize wholewheat cereal with a topping of honey and crushed nuts.

I generally prefer cereals like this one where you don't need to add extra sugar. With Cornflakes (or standard Shredded Wheat for that matter), I end up spooning on so much that it can't be particularly healthy.

Price & Availability

From Asda, the 500g pack of Honey Nut Shredded Wheat costs £1.84 - in my opinion, not an excessive price for cereal in this economic climate.

The Taste
- - - - - - -
Before adding milk, the cereal is incredibly crunchy, and the honey glazed top-side is fairly sweet - perhaps a little too sweet for me; however, once milk has been poured over and allowed to absorb into each of the wheats, the sweetness is just right. The cereal can become soggy fairly quickly, and due to the fact that I'm not really a fan of soggy cereal, I will eat the product no longer than one minute after milk has been applied.

Ingredients
- - - - - - - -
In terms of its contents, the product contains; Whole Grain Wheat (82%), Sugar, Nuts (10.5%) (Peanut, Coconut, Hazelnuts), Honey (2.8%), Molasses, and Flavouring.

Each 40g serving equates to 151 calories (without milk), and 212 calories with milk.

Summary

Honey Nut Shredded Wheat is a tasty breakfast cereal. As well as being reasonably priced, it contains two servings of whole grain with every bowl. This means that whilst I am enjoying the nutty taste of the product, I am also theoretically looking after my heart at the same time - which can't be bad.

Summary: Tastly Cereal
