They are designed to be eaten with cheese but taste pretty good on their own too. They taste a bit like a plain digestive biscuit with a slightly wheaty taste and it is difficult to say whether they are sweet or savoury, a bit of both I think. I eat these with cream cheese because they go so well. it has to be Dairylee for me, though Mrs Assasin isn't so discerning...more

Hovis Digestive Biscuits Description: Manufacturer: Hovis / Type: Biscuits I am sure that you have seen these over the years, or even tried them. They are an old favourite and no matter how often I eat them, I don't seem to get fed up of them and still crave them from time to time. A 250g pack costs around £0.90 from supermarkets and are available in the biscuit section along with other biscuits for cheese. They are recognisable by their bright red packaging with the Hovis logo on the front. Once opened, these should be kept in an airtight container. These biscuits have a lovely crunchy texture but are not to crumbly, so ...  Read the complete review

When we went to a park last summer, it was a glorious hot day. It was approaching lunch time and we were beginning to get a little hungry! The last thing we wanted was a big carton of steaming hot chips from the van nearby. What were we going to do? We had almost forgotten we had packed lunch, until my mam whipped out a packed of digestive biscuits. They were made by Hovis and came in a plastic packet. The packet was quite plain, to be honest. It was red and black in colour, nothing too attractive! We sat ourselves around a picnic table, the digestives in the middle. Pulling one out from the packet, I found that they were a similar shape to a loaf of bread, ...  Read the complete review

Hovis have come up trumps with their digestive biscuits. The name Hovis has been around for many years so I think that many of us have complete confidence in their products. I know that their bread is good and I love their rolls, the soft Hovis Cobbles. Another thing that caught my eye was that wonderful television advertisement that Hovis had made, the one that is set way back in Wartime. I had never bought a packet of Hovis digestives before but we had a packet of mixed biscuits for cheese at Christmas that included them in the selection. I had always bypassed the Hovis digestives in the supermarket, the reason why? The masculine packaging and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Hovis make biscuits too (234 words)

These biscuits seem to live in our Tesco's near all the cheese biscuits and to be honest the first time I came across these biscuits was when I bought the obligatory box of cheese biscuits at christmas. However I don't think that they just need to be eaten with cheese and if my son is anything to go by they can be eaten as soon as you come home from school, come in from football training, whilst watching the TV, I think you probably get the picture. The biscuits are a great design - they look like a minuture traditional loaf - the one with the rounded top. The packet isn't a great design because it isn't self sealing and the only way to open it ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Hovis Digestive Biscuits: Well bred biscuits. (159 words)

Mention Hovis and you think of bread, rightly so, and these digestive biscuits capitalise on their heritage by being loaf shaped and by being very tasty too. Good value at 75p for a 250g packet in Tesco, the biscuits are crunchy, wheaty and have that slightly sweet/savoury combination typical of digestives. They have quite a dense texture and snap rather than crumble when broken. They come in a plain pillar box red plastic pack that holds about 22 biscuits. Quite filling and not moreish enough that you're in danger of finishing the packet! Around 37 calaries per biscuit. These might seem a bit plain and dull ( i.e not covered in ...  Read the complete review
