... and thought id give it a try. When looking at all the breads down the bread aisle have to have a feel to make sure they pass the super soft test- they need to feel really soft when you squeeze the bread. Hovis soft white did pass the super soft test. and 3 loafs went in to the trolley When we get home from shopping we always have a bacon buttie. so out came the bread. nice soft fresh slice bread with a nice soft crust. I cooked my Bacon and buttered the bread and places on my bacon and a splash of brown sauce. ooo...more

Premium Review Hovis Soft White bread: The softest thing since sliced bread (551 words)

My favourite bread is a locally baked bread by 'Roberts Bakery' . It is a beautifully soft white bread which all the family love. Unfortunately, the price of the bread is about £1.25p. When I buy up to 10 loaves a week this can prove expensive...so I am always on the 'look out' for a decent bread that might be a wee bit cheaper.... I have, at last, discovered a bread that is comparable - if not superior - to Roberts' bread.. ... It is Hovis' 'Soft White' bread. Although it is about the same price as Roberts' bread it can often be found on offer in the supermarkets. For example, this week it is on offer at Somerfield - 2 for £2. When the bread is on ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review use your loaf! (566 words)

I know we should really be eating wholemeal or wholegrain bread but our family loves good old English doughy white bread. I used to but Warburtons all the time but I've noticed, like everything else, the price has crept up & I refuse to pay £1.30 or more for a single loaf I'm afraid. I tried buying cheaper breads & supermarket brands but found these were usually dry, crumbly & didn't stay fresh for very long. The best of the own brand loaves I found was Iceland's own which is worth a try? I was pleased as heck when I saw Hovis on offer at Tesco.com - 3 large loaves for £2 - I didn't even know that Hovis made white bread! ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Hovis Soft White bread: "The Softest Thing Since Sliced Bread" (434 words)

Mmm...bread! I think that because bread is seen as a staple food (though perhaps a little less so these days) it's important that it tastes good and is nutritious too. The two leading brands that spring to mind are Hovis and Warburtons, but Hovis always seems to be the winner in our house. Hovis have been producing their doughy goodness since 1866 so you can rest assured you're getting quality food from their years of knowledge and experience. As it's such a popular brand it's readily available, though a little more expencive than other similar versions, like Tesco's white bread. Hovis Soft White comes in medium or thickand is ready sliced. Both ...  Read the complete review

Hovis have been making bread since 1886. "using the finest quality flour from our mills. Hovis has been baking great tasting healthy bread since 1886 - Hovis as good today as it's always been" - Taken from the bread packet. I like to make my own bread. but sometimes like a change and leave all the bread making to the experts and buy something from Tesco. I often get Warburton's only as I had this as a child so home comforts. I saw Hovis on offer 3 loafs for £3 and thought id give it a try. Premium Review Hovis Soft White bread: Delicious soft white bread. (353 words)

If I had a bigger budget then this would always be my bread of choice but sometimes I have to stick to cheaper products or just whatever is in the cupboard wherever I happen to be staying! This bread is provided in a polythene bread bag with a neck seal (which shows the best before date) and providing you are careful when opening the bag can easily be resealed and your bread will stay fresher for longer. I find that this stays soft for a good few days on average after purchasing and I normally freeze some when I get it so that I have a nice loaf in the freezer for toast at all times. The bread is brilliantly white & is deliciously soft, I always ...  Read the complete review
