I can't believe it's not butter Description: Manufacturer: Unilever / Type: Margarine A 500g tub of this product cost me £1.16 from a local supermarket and can be found in most shops and supermarkets in the chiller cabinet section. Like most of us, I tend to find that all the best tasting things are guaranteed to be bad for you! This is definitely the case with butter. It is delicious and a must have addition to loads of foods. Unfortunately, it is also high in fat and we are continually being advised to switch from full fat butter to something which is better for us. Enter "I can't believe it's not ... Recently I've been eating Utterly Butterly but when I went shopping a few weeks ago I found Heron had I Can't Believe It's Not Butter on offer for 85p for a 500g tub so I decided to try that instead. Nutritional statistic wise it's about the same as Utterly Butterly with 60% less saturated fat than butter and each 100g giving us 536 calories, 0.2 g protein, 0.2g carbohydrates of which 0.2g sugars, 59.0g fat of which 19.9g saturates, no fibre, 0.60g sodium and 1.5g salt. It also contains vitamin A, D and E too. The tub is yellow and blue and the yellow part is meant to look like a splodge of butter with the name printed inside it. The tub is a deep ... I can't believe it's not butter Description: Manufacturer: Unilever / Type: Margarine This product boasts that it has 60% less saturated fat than normal butter. It is available in the chilled cabinets of most supermarkets and comes in a bright yellow tub with the logo written in blue on the front. Expect to pay around £1.10 for a 500g tub, though this product can often be found on special offer too. This product is quite a bright yellow colour which looks appealing, if a little artificial. It claims that it is easy to spread, straight from the fridge, though to be honest, I still found it a little difficult. I ... Read the complete review

It's always distressing when you find out that a multi-national company better known for manufacturing household products of the laundry detergent / aerosol propellants type (in this particular it's case Unilever, although along similar lines, I believe Reckitt Chemicals may have a foothold in the 'Sara Lee' range of industrially-produced chocolate cakes too) is also responsible for making something that you would otherwise have considered as being food. In this case, the 'dairy spread' / substitute for butter known as 'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter.' Made by Unilever. Who'd have thought. Well, the clues were pretty obvious really. This is a 'churned' ... Read the complete review

I know Butter isnt good for you, Ive read the "shock! horror!" stories about the dangers of too much saturated fat that the media like to resurrect every now and again - so, being concious of the choices I make when supermarket shopping I made the decision to buy "I cant believe its not butter" instead of my normal choice of Lurpak. Butter is one of my guilty pleasures, especially on hot toast, but as this was on offer recently I decided to do a comparison so that I could maybe save myself from myself... I first heard of the brand years ago when it launched and at the time hated the name of it, I thought it was a cheap, gimmicky ... Read the complete review
