Advantages: Only 50p, tastes ok and spreads well.
Disadvantages: It's not butter.
I love to have real butter, the kind that is really tasty, salty and impossible to spread. I don't however allow myself to have it very often and will buy the next best thing which is Flora Buttery. I love Flora Buttery and will always buy it unless there is a really good offer on another brand. This week while in Morrisons there was a really good offer on and I bought I can't believe it's not butter for just 50p.
When I buy Flora Buttery I think it costs about £1.50 so for only a third of the cost I had to try I can't believe it's not butter, I could get 3 tubs for the price of 1 Flora. After using it for the last week I have been pleasantly suprised and I think I will be going back to Morrisons and stocking up on some more. It normally costs £1.14.
When looking for a nice spread to put on my bread and toast there are two things I look for, one that it tastes ok (the closer to butter tasting the better) and the other is that it spreads easily. I can't believe it's not butter does taste nice and spreads relatively easily.
I can't believe it's not butter comes in a 500g tub that is bright yellow and blue, it's noticable in the supermarket. It is 59% vegetable fat spread with buttermilk and contains 60% less saturated fat than butter. It can be used for spreading, frying and baking. It needs to be kept refrigerated and can be frozen for up to 3 months, I didn't know myself you could freeze it until I saw it on the tub.
I love the name of this spread and on the bottom of the tub it goes one step futher in comparing itself to real butter. Where the nutritional information is stated you get the typical values from 100g of I can't believe it's not butter and then the same information for butter. For example a 100g of Icbinb has 536 calories and butter contains 744 calories (not as much difference as I thought really). The fat content for Icbinb is 59.0g where as butter 82.2g (that's a bigger difference).
I thought that buying such a cheap spread would mean that the quality would be poor but overall I am very impressed. It is a healthier option that tastes fine and spreads easily enough. Now that I know you can freeze it I might go and buy loads for 50p and freeze them.
Summary: Bargain!
