Advantages: Does what it promises
Disadvantages: Doesn't take the place of butter with some things
It has been quite a while that I Can't Believe It's Not Butter has been on the shelves of our favourite supermarkets now. I remember when it first came out, it was like a really big deal that finally we had a product that was essentially like butter but with the physical qualities of margarine, in terms of being spreadable.
It has been joined by a number of various different products, but it still maintains the top status of being a high quality product and doing what it promises to. I find it tastes really nice, being full of flavour with the buttermilk giving it richness and maintaining a buttery taste.
What this promises to do is to spread like margarine yet taste like butter, and really, it does. It has less calories than butter, and less fats (saturated) than butter as well. This makes it a very popular product.
So, this this mean that it comes with a price that elevates it above everything else? Well, no, not really. It wades in normally above the £1 mark for a 500g tub of it, and it takes it place in the rotation of Tesco's spreadables promotions. Currently, it is lined up at a buy one get one free offer, meaning each one works out at 60p.
If every product in the same type was lined up next to each other, this would probably still be the one I would go for, as it's got the quality and the closest one to butter whilst maintaining its spreadability, so this is the one I would recommend above the others. It doesn't take the place of butter for things such as cooking, but in terms of giving us something to put on our bread and toast, while reducing the saturated fats and cholesterol, this really takes the biscuit.
Summary: Spreadable margarine/butter product
