Advantages: Pepperoni
Disadvantages: Not much cheese
We dont buy a lot from Iceland but me and the other half are feeling the pinch meaning that we popped in there today just to get a pizza or something for tea. We've bought pizza from Iceland before and although it wasn't the best pizza thought it was ok so we opted for the same variety again-Deep pan pepperoni. As with most pizzas it comes in a square cardboard box. The box is deep red in colour with a large picture of the pizza and a small description. There is also a large clear price on the box-£1.
To cook the pizza you must put it in the oven for about 25 minutes. After 25 minutes the cheese had turned golden and was bubbling so we knew it was ready. The pepperoni had also gone brown round the edges. Cutting the pizza was easy however some of the topping did come off. Biting into the pizza I immediately noticed how soft the base was, it was soft and spongey. It had a nice flavour to it and was not too doughy. The tomato sauce was also nice, it had no bits and had quite a mild flavour. I'm not a huge fan of tomato so this was a big advantage to me. There wasn't a lot of cheese on the pizza and it barely covered the base. However, the cheese that was there was a lovely golden brown colour. It didnt have a strong flavour and instead was very mild however it did provide a nice flavour. The pepperoni, in my personal opinion was the best part of the pizza. Although some of the edges had burnt, the majority were fine. The pepperoni had a really nice flavour, it was not too spicy however it did have a kick to it. The texture was nice and smooth with crunchy, crisp edges. Overall, the pizza had a nice flavour. It was a much better pizza than others out there in the same price range, however it was nowhere near as nice as the more expensive varieties. Hubby has thrown away the box but having read the box before popping it in the oven I can remember that a third of this pizza has 13g fat.
Overall, I thought this was a good pizza, especially for the bargain price of £1. It isnt quite as good quality as others on the market however for the price its a fab pizza. This will be good for families looking for a quick dinner. Obviously pizza isnt the most nutritious so once a week is probably wise for this pizza! Recommended to those on a budget.
Summary: Bargain!
