My local high street has recently seen a new Iceland store open where there was once a Woolworths. Like many in the town I was interested in seeing what sort of products were on offer. The loud window display had several pictures of what was on offer inside. The one that caught my eye was a large poster showing an interesting looking choc ice. The choc ice looked very different to any I had seen before as it had 3 different flavours of ice cream inside. The advert told me that for 10 of these tasty looking treats I would have to part with a mere 75p! Needless to say I left with far more than one pack of choc ices!

The box looks a bit insipid in my view but the as you know you never judge a book by its cover! The choc ices are individually wrapped as you would expect. From the outside the choc ices look exactly like any other choc ice I have eaten-and there have been a lot! The choc ices are a decent size, again like most other brands!

Next for the all important taste test. I like to nibble the end off a choc ice rather than taking a big bite. The first thing to say is that the chocolate is not very thick. However this suits me as I don't like thick chocolate coatings. The chocolate is not overly sweet and neither does it taste like cheap cooking chocolate as is the case with some chocolate coatings.

The ice cream inside looks very pretty. I was really impressed that each flavour could be distinguished. The chocolate and strawberry flavours were quite strong and very pleasant. The vanilla did get a bit lost but was still a good contrast. Like the coating the ice cream wasn't too sweet and sickly.

As you would expect these choc ices are not healthy! However as each contains just over 100 calories they are not as bad as some! Overall I am very impressed with these choc ices and will be buying them again. They are only available in Iceland.

Summary: Choc ices from Iceland
