Advantages: Low in calories and fat (for a snack anyway!), very tasty, each bite is unique.
Disadvantages: Some of them are over flavoured and some are under flavoured.
When I asked my other half for a snack this afternoon he provided me with this and I realised I hadn't eaten Twiglets in absolutely years (since the days of the Primary school Disco if I remember correctly!).
The Twiglets are a whole wheat savoury snack which are crunchy and a little tangy in taste. The twiglet is mainly made up from whole wheat flour (giving an average of 40% of your daily RDA of whole grains) spices & yeast extract which means they taste quite similar to what a pretzel baked with Marmite would (these are lush!). If you are not a fan of Marmite or Bovril even then the chances are slim that you are going to be a fan of this product.
Once I open the foil bag (for freshness) I am met with another 40 individual Twiglets and each one is different in size and shape and they are a very knobbly snack (not dissimilar to Nik Naks in appearance). Some of them are more knobbly than others and each one is unique. Some of them have a lot more flavouring than others and I think this is partly because of their difference sizes/knobs and therefore getting more or less flavouring in the manufacturing process.
These are actually quite a filling snack and they leave my lips tingling a little afterwards. There are 96 calories and 2.9g of fat per bag so in terms of crisp snacks these are definitely in the better end of the spectrum.
The taste is fantastic and they are something, like Marmite, that you either love or hate. I'm in the love camp, as is my other half and most of his family!
The pack size is 45g and these can be purchased singly or as part of a multi-pack. Prices will vary and I have been told that 6 packs are available in Poundland for (you've guessed it!) £1.00.
I am rating this product 4/5. The packaging is simple yet effective, they are crunchy sticks and unique in every bite. There aren't too many calories or too much fat so I don't need to felt particularly guilty about this snack. My only gripe is that some of them are very strong indeed and others are a little too weak for my liking. I will be eating this again and they are an ideal snack for parties.
Summary: I would definitely recommend these as a tangy alternative to standard crisps.
