During my mid week trip to Sainsburys to top up on milk, bread and such things, I saw a new looking pack of something sitting on the shelf in the biscuit aisle. I thought I would investigate a little more.
I picked up the pack, which was a nice deep purple colour with orange markings and white writing on it saying Jaco Bites. I then noticed Jacobs made them. The pack then went on to explain it contained snacking crackers. It had a picture of three tasty looking different shaped biscuits on the front and the words ?bite size? beside them.
I noticed there were three different flavoured packs.
There was Passionately Pizza.
Blazing BBQ.
And finally Tempting Tandoori, which is the ones I decided to try. (I?m rather fond of a good curry).
On the back of the pack it read?
?Jacob?s range of snacking crackers are packed full of flavour and baked for a bite like no other snack- so you and your friends won?t be able to resist them!??
I thought I?d be the judge of that! and put them straight into my trolley.
When I got home I opened the bag inside and there were the crackers. They were almost wafer thin. They looked like they were generously covered in flavouring, so I tried one. They weren?t quite as crisp as I expected but they were very tasty and really did taste like Tandoori, they were extremely moreish. I called my sons girlfriend in to try them, ?she is definitely the cheese and cracker? type. She loved them too and said she must get some.
The ingredients are: -
Wheat Flour, Vegetable Oil, Curry Flavour (contains Rusk Powder, Flavour Enhancer, (Monosodium Glutamate), Onion Powder, Spices, Natural Flavouring, Yeast Extract, Yeast Powder, Garlic Powder, Acidity Regulator (Citric Acid)), Potato Starch, Malt Extract, Salt, Sugar, Raising Agents (Sodium Bicarbonate, Disodium Diphospate).
They carry a warning that they contain Wheat. They also warn that they are produced on a li
ne handling egg, milk and Soya in a factory handling sesame but do stress that these are on a different line.
I bought the 150-gram bag, as that was all there was at the time but it does say on the pack, you can also buy them in 50-gram bags.
I paid 79p, in Sainsburys for the 150-gram bag.
Each 100 grams contains 474 calories, so the 50 gram bag snack size should have about 237calories. So sadly not for dieters, very fattening.
I haven?t tried the Passionate Pizza, or the Blazing BBQ flavours yet but I definitely intend to. These crackers are definitely on my shopping list from now on.
I would recommend them to any one who likes a savoury cracker. I love Jacobs?s Thai bites and thought they might be very similar but there not. Thai Bites are more crunchy and made of rice. Jaco bites are a softer more crumbly biscuit.
As these come in smaller 50 gram bags. I think they would be ideal for lunch boxes and picnics. Not too often though. Not with those calories per bag.
So there you have it, in a nutshell. They?re very tasty, not too expensive but very fattening.
Enjoy if you dare!

Mmmm I love the bbq ones! Its a shame they don't sell the smaller bags in a multi pack!
