Advantages: Two favourites in one

Disadvantages: none its confectionery

Some things are sacred, so some say if that is the case then perhaps McVities Jaffa Cake formula should come into this category. The humble yet highly emulated Jaffa cake has over its many years given countless joy to a similar quantity of consumers. Simple delicious so surely it must hold its place in sacredness. You'd think so the imitations are good but can in no way match the brilliance that is McVities, and it is such brilliance that has transformed the Jaffa cake to the next level.

Another product which we have taken too it quite a similar way is the Swiss roll, it has in it's own right got a special place in out hearts, the clever boffins at McVities recognised this fact and have come up with a hybrid, a joining, a merging, a delight. So we are now in the enviable position of being able to buy Jaffa Cake Mini Rolls a delectable mix of both of these favourites. The six rolls arrive in a nice blue wrapper which is quickly removed and discarded, for it is the contents which I intend to devour. The packet does contain the phrasing XL which may seem an excellent description if you are 7 years old, but for me the just over four inch length of each roll is hardly XL. The diameter of the delicacy in question is just over one inch which makes the roll probably a decent size unless you intend to eat it they way I normally do in which case two bites and bye bye. Each roll in covered thinly in lovely milk chocolate as is a Jaffa Cake. On taking a small bite in order to describe the cross sectional view of the inside I find myself inexplicably drawn to taking another bite, so the description will be of the second roll not that this should make any difference.

What I see is soft delicate sponge which is associated with the Swiss Roll which has been amply spread with the tangy bitter sweet orangy bit that you get in a Jaffa. It has then been rolled to form the Swiss Roll shape. It is such a pretty sight seeing two favourite merge so. The taste of these Mini Rolls is probably more than you might expect since the soft sponge which replaces the Jaffa crunchy sponge gives the whole experience a different texture, the orangy bit is just as good as it has always been and when the chocolate enters the equation the formula is complete.

Six of these most scrumptious rolls is going to cost in the region of £1.19 making them great value at about 20p each. If you are fortunate enough to be under 10 years old these are going to be big eats otherwise they are an adequate size snack for to quell the mid morning hunger. A definite must have for any Swiss Roll or Jaffa Cake lover the both of which when merged in such an excellent fashion form yet another confectionery masterpiece.

Summary: A delicious little mid morning bite
