Advantages: Tasty, Cheaper than the original

Disadvantages: None

As with the title Sainsbury?s Plain Chocolate Jaffa Cakes may not be the original, but I think they come very close to be the best.

I bought a pack of 24 cakes at my local Sainsbury?s store recently and found inside 2 sealed packs of 12 Jaffa cakes. They also come in packs for 12. The prices are: £0.47GBP for 12 and £0.89GBP for 24. The packaging is made of cardboard and is brightly coloured with extremely readable information on the outside.

Along one side of the box is the information about the ingredients and nutritional values. I will nut list all the ingredients, but to say the Jaffa cakes include real orange juice. Other main ingredients are plain chocolate (20%) & glucose syrup. The plain chocolate actually contains 30% minimum cocoa solids.

The weight of the pack of 24 is also shown on the box and this is 282 grams.

My personal favourite part of the cake is the orange soft centre. After biting through the top coating of the plain chocolate and bottom biscuit part I come to the taste of the orange centre. What a great taste I find.

As I suffer from slightly high cholesterol levels I find that the saturated fat content of 0.5g per cake is fine for my intake of fat content. I usually eat 2 Jaffa cakes at a time and enjoy every part.

Another good reason for me eating Sainsbury?s Jaffa cakes is the salt content. In each cake there is less than 0.1g of sodium. I can therefore keep on my healthier diet with these cakes.

About the freshness of the cakes I cannot say too much. The reason for this is that before they have time to go stale I have eaten them all! I find that Sainsbury?s Jaffa cakes do keep fresh even if the box is left open, although I try and keep the box closed.

These ckes are suitable for vegetarians. At the moment I cannot think of anything else to write about Sainsbury?s Jaffa Cakes, other than to say I can recommend these to potential buyers.
