Advantages: tasty, amazing, posh jelly beans :)
Disadvantages: the price
I've just received a little sample bag of these through the post! No idea why they've sent them to me but i'm not complaining!!
This little bag is 15g and contains around 10 jelly beans, all different flavours/colours, yey!
I should be thinking about making my lunch at this time but I'd rather have my jelly beans.
Jelly Belly
--------------------
Jelly Belly make 'gourmet' jelly beans.
They are softer than normal, cheaper jelly beans. Jelly Belly use natural ingredients to get the flavours accurate wherever possible. There are 4 calories per jally bean and no fat at all :)
There are 50 'normal' flavours which include tasty sounding ones such as Cream Soda and Cherry Cola, there are also some that don't sound quite as yummy such as Peanut Butter and Jalapeno! Two foods I enjoy but not sure how they'd work as a jelly bean.
There are also 5 flavours which are called Smoothie Blends; Mixed berry, Pineapple pear, Strawberry banana, Cherry passion, Mandarin Orange.
Some I hope I won't be trying in this sample bag are Sours; sour apple, blueberry, cherry, grape, lemon, orange, peach, raspberry, strawberry and watermelon.
Taste test
----------------------
With the sample bag I received a jelly bean menu, I'm going to identify my jelly beans before I eat them using this as each jelly bean has its own distinct look, I promise to try them even if I don't like the sound of the flavours so I can give you an even opinion!
So here we go-
A blue one with white splotches; Blueberry. Yum!! I'm not too keen on blueberry usually but this is sweet and juicy, as I chewed it my mouth watered. Fruity but not necessarily blueberry flavoured.
A bright red one, this could be either cherry or apple...i'm thinking cherry as its a bright colour but its not easy to tell from the menu.
Yep cherry, it tastes just like cherry lips; the old fashioned ones that actually taste like proper cherry, Not too sweet but very strong flavour.
So far so good......
A dark green one, for a horrible second I thought it might be jalapeno!! Nope its slightly blotchy therefore it must be watermelon. I'm not keen on this flavour but it does taste very accurately of watermelon.
A peachy orange coloured one, this could be tangerine, orange or canteloupe (they're all exactly the same colour!)
And its...tangerine, sweet but tangy too. I love this one :)
A darker red one, this one must be red apple then.
Mmmm juicy! Its like eating a really fresh, juicy apple. Very accurate flavour and very strong too, i'm enjoying this review.
Brown with white splodges, Cappucino! I'm looking forward to this one. Yum, its creamy and mildly tasting of coffee, gorgeous flavour, one of my favourites so far
Bright yellow, this is either Lemon or Lemon drop. Even now i've tasted it i'm not sure which one it is its definitely lemony and i'm guessing its the Lemon Drop as its quite sweet as well as sour. Tasty.
Bright orange, wow Orange Sherbet, so bluddy good! It tastes fruity and tangy and at the same time you can taste the fizzyness of the sherbet, how the hell they get all that flavour in a tiny little bean I will never understand!
Last but not least, one of my favourites always, a yellow bean with brown splodges; Top Banana!
So, so gorgeous, very much like a banana with sugar sprinkled on it, sweeter than your average banana but oh so yummy!
All done and my mouth tastes mostly of the banana one but still got a bit of a watermelon kick every now and then. I only had 9 beans and that isn't enough, they're so much fun to eat looking at the menu or if you're braver just shoving them in your mouth and chewing!
I'm a bit disappointed I didn't get my three overall favourite ones; Butterered popcorn, Toasted marshmallow and Root beer.
But I can't complain, I don't even know why I got this freebie!
Price
-----------------
The only negative when it comes to Jelly Belly beans.
If you buy them pick n mix style they're around £4.50 per 100g, ever so slightly more than your usual pick n mix......
If you take a look at the website- jellybelly-uk.com you can see the bags of jelly beans start at about £4 for two 45g boxes! You can also buy a kilogram of mixed flavours for £18.
The largest hamper (which I would buy myself if I won the lottery) is £100, in this you get a jelly bean dispensing machine and tonnes of jelly beans! This would also be a fantastic Valentines present (hint, hint) :)
I'm going to have to get a pick n mix of these when I next go into town, i'll spend hours getting one of each flavour lol!
