Advantages: Everything it's great!

Disadvantages: None at all

I can't tell you how long it's been since I've had tinned tuna until I used this the other day! I'm not a very healthy person usually and consume an awful lot of junk food. However I'm getting fit and healthy, working out almost every-day and watching what I eat so I grabbed some tins of fish the other day and this I bought in Sainsbury's costing me 92p cos I wanted to make a tuna pasta bake, shove some in a pitta with salad for a quick snack and that kind of thing! I went for a brand I know of and trust and this is it!

The Packaging....

I'm not sure what other sizes this is available in and I have looked and am pretty sure I have seen it at some point in a 454g tin but don't quote me on that. My tin was 185g and had silver lid I had to open with a tin opener and around the main of the can there is a dark green and yellow label. On the front and the back of that I'm told it is John West Tuna Chunks In Sunflower Oil. Other information on the can gives me a list of ingredients (Tuna, Sunflower Oil and Salt), nutritional information and contact details for John West are stated. Simple enough can however I do wish it had a ring-pull for ease of opening!

The Tuna Itself....

Open the can and your met with rather a strong fish smell that is fresh and a large chunk of tuna that is pink and moist looking. Push the lid to the tuna and drain out excess sunflower oil to drain it off a bit before consuming it or it is rather oily. Now I'd be careful doing this if I were you! You want some moisture in there so I wouldn't bash it too much or you end up with dried up and chewy tuna!

This is really rather nice. Nicely salted though not heavily so and it's a good quality and flavoursome tuna. No nasty bits of grey skin or anything else are lurking in there either. You can mash it up, mix it with stuff and it's great in hot foods too such as tuna bake because it doesn't go scummy or turn to mush or anything but holds very well indeed.

Overall....

A really nice fresh tasting fish that if you don't overly drain it is moist and contains alot of flavour! What more can I say? It's top notch and great in anything you want to use it in!
