****The Catch of the Day**** I think if you asked a cross-section of people which company you thought of with regards to tinned fish, the answer would probably be John West. The company has certainly had a colourful history since the man, John West, first started the original cannery business, though he actually set it up in Oregon, USA in 1868. A native of Scotland, he thought of the advantages of canned fish to the people of the UK who couldn't afford the fresh fish itself. But it was up to two Liverpool merchants, Pelling and Stanley to put together the companies that eventually became known by Lever Bros (later to become Unilever). As many companies ... I have been purchasing Tuna Light Lunches for quite while but on an occasional basis. I really enjoy them for a snack, supper or, as they are called, a light lunch but overall find them a little expensive. They often retail at around £1.50 and this just feels too expensive for a tuna based snack. I know a sandwich would cost more but the price is just not good value for this sort of tuna meal. I like to eat tuna about once every week or two. I use it to make sandwiches, combined with salad or sometimes as part of a pasta dish. It goes nice with olive oil, lemon juice or a little mustard. But when I saw Tuna Light Lunches these in Kwik Save the other day, instead of buying my usual tin of Tuna, I decided to give them a go. John West Tuna Light Lunches are generally made from Tuna, vegetables and pulses, with rice or pasta in a light dressing. The manufacturers claim that they are nutritionally balanced, packed with vitamins and high in protein. This does seem to be the case. A Tuna Light Lunch weigh in at about 250g. They are ready to eat ... Read the complete review
