Advantages: healthy , tasty
Disadvantages: price
Kellogg's bran flakes.
I hope you are going to have a good breakfast before you go to work /school tomorrow, I will I shall probavly be eating Kellogg's special k with red fruit + Kellogg's bran flakes . I find the special k too sweet so I add a few bran flakes and it is scrummy.
I usually buy a shops own bran type flake to add to my special k it usually works out cheaper. But Today I have a box of Kellogg's they are now marketed as All bran bran flakes
Kellogg is an American based company that produces many breakfast cereals it was founded in 1906. The cereals they make are among the better tasting quality and taste.
I buy my cereals in Tesco where bran flakes cost £1 94 for 750g, £1 for 500g. Tesco' own cost 89p for 500 g. Kellogg's bran flakes are also available as an organic option or yoghurt option.
But sticking to the basic bran flakes which are presented in its air free bag inside a blue box with a picture of a few flakes falling across it. I open my box and pour some into my bowl.
Some crisp brown flakes fall into my bowl. Today I shall eat a few for you before I add the special k to them.
I tend to eat this cereal with out milk, ok call me strange the flakes are crisp and crunchy. (They can be quite noisy to eat) The texture is a little rough. I know that even after milk is added they take a long time to become soggy.
These flakes are a plain wheaty flavour not strong. I like these bran flakes I think they taste a little better than own brands so if I were eating bran flakes with out adding them to anything else I might choose these in preference. If you like your cereals sweeter add a little sugar. If you like you can add some fresh fruit to your bran flakes too I sometimes do
This cereal is quite filling and does keep of the hunger pangs I might feel in the morning.
Nutrition? Well if you add 125g semi skimmed milk to a 30g portion of bran flakes it will give you
156 kcal
7g protein
2.5 g fat
Bran flakes contain some iron vitamin B6, B 12, B2, and vitamin D.
This cereal is quite a healthy cereal to eat with plenty of fibre.
I enjoy eating this and feel that I have had something substantial for breakfast.
I have used bran flakes to make a dessert. I stew
Some apples add a little honey to sweeten put it in a bowl add some cinnamon and cover the top with bran flakes bake in the oven for a little while and you have a simple tasty pudding, anyway must dash hubby is awake its breakfast time . Happy eating Mary
Summary: healthy breakfast

- 25/08/06 I don't think you're strange to eat branflakes dry - I take them in a little box to my work as a snack, with raisins and sultanas and bits of dried apricot. Yum! Its like a do-it-yourself cereal bar without the fat/syrup/sugar content! Great review, Kate x |
