Advantages: Taste great
Disadvantages: Very sweet and expensive
My hubby knows how much I love cereal and he also knows how I definitely won't pay the price of a name brand product which is why he came home with these the other dayas a nice treat for me.
They cost £2.59 for 500g which is quite a lot and way out of the price range that I would be comfortable paying.
The cereal consists of oats and crunchy nut cornflakes that are squashed together to make big 'Clusters' or balls. Covering the clusters are honey.
When I took a sniff I was expecting to smell some nuts but it didn't really smell of anything to be honest. I shovelled a load onto my spoon and popped it into my mouth. It was a bit like eating horse food not that I've ever tucked into horse food. It was a bit dry and the flakes stabbed into the sides of my mouth every now and again but somehow it was nice.
My second bowl was a totally different experience altogether. The nuts were very distinct. This mixed with the honey and the oats was a bit of an explosion in my mouth. It tasted really sweet and almost better than chocolate peanuts. I think maybe my first bowl was off the top of the packet and perhaps I needed to shake the box a bit before I ate them.
When I have a bowl of cereal it is highly unlikely that I will stick to the 30g serving that they suggest you have. I probably end up with three times that much. One of the things that really did my head in with this cereal is that it was gone within two days. I had a bowl for breakie and supper then on the following morning there was barely enough left for another bowl. Obviously my hubby and son had there bowls too but surely it should have gone further than that? Either I should cut back or they should make bigger boxes. The thing is if this was to become my regular cereal then it would be a huge expense to have to fork out almost three quid every couple of days.
As much as I enjoyed eating this, I probably won't buy it again because of the cost. Even if I had the opportunity to treat myself, I'd probably spend it on a bit of chocolate rather than this. It is a really good cereal and lived up to all of my expectations although I am pretty sure it's very high in calories and if you aren't used to sugary cereals for brekkie then you could end up with a bad head.
Summary: I wouldn't want to eat these for breakfast as they are too sweet.
