Advantages: great texture, look good & taste nice but.........
Disadvantages: .......... too sweet for me
Every evening when I settle down to watch TV I find I have a craving to nibble or crunch on sweet things but as both my daughters have now left home I refuse to buy biscuits as I know I'll eat them all myself. Last night I felt the need for something sweet & was pleased to find some Kellogg's Frosties which looked as if they'd do the job.
Hubby came home with a large pack of Kellogg's mixed cereals from Costco & they're slightly bigger than the sort you find in their Variety Packs - 35g per box which is a fairly generous portion.
I was pleased to see the good old tiger on the front of the box (how OLD is he I wonder?!) & eagerly opened the box & carefully pulled open the greaseproof heat-sealed bag which revealed the golden brown flakes.
I haven't eaten Frosties since I was a child & was pleased to see that the size & colour was the same as I'd remembered. What I hadn't realised though was just how sweet they are (maybe it's old age?!). Once my brain had received this taste information though I happily ate the box & really enjoyed them.
I suppose they are really Cornflakes (though slightly smaller?) covered in a sort of clear film & sugar but I added some raisins just to take the edge off the sweetness.
Kellogg's have excelled themself with the amount of information provided on the box - unfortunately it's in very small print & in many languages which I'm not lucky enough to read - but they give the ingredients & nutritional information for those who want/need to know.
I must say that I enjoyed the crunchiness of this cereal & found it satisfying & fairly filling - it certainly filled that need-for-something-sweet mood but I'm not sure it would be my first choice from this multi-pack due to the sweetness.
Summary: as good as it always was

- 16/10/09 I remember my sister used to add extra sugar to these , could explain why she was a bit on the plump side as a child. :-o |

- 15/10/09 My mum stopped buying them for us because we would snack on them straight from the packet at every opportunity we had. We didn't bother with milk. |
