Kellogg's Nutri-grain Strawberry Cereal Bars....

I have been struggling over the past few months to try and find something that Jack will eat for breakfast. It seems at nearly 2 ½ he has gotten into the bad habit of not eating what I prepare for him. He will often ask for some jam on toast and I will dutifully make it for him and then he will just point blankly refuse to eat it and then moan an hour or so later that he is hungry.

I thought about these bars as they are promoted as being fairly good and I was sure I had seen adverts where they say about eating them for breakfast. To start with I bought a single bar which cost around 40pence but after Jack scoffing it down without it touching the sides and seemingly filling him up till his snack time at 10 O clock I decided on buying a multi box.

I was quite astounded at the price of a multi box which for 8 individually wrapped bars was nearly going to set me back £3! I guess however you get what you pay for and the fact is that Jack does like them (I have however found Morrison's version to be cheaper and just as nice).

As I say the bars all come individually wrapped in a 'Stay Fresh' type wrapper and the outer box is made from cardboard so can easily be recycled. The bars are perfect for eating on the go too because of them being wrapped up and of a good lunch box type size.

The bars of described as 'Soft Bake Bar" which is exactly what they are funnily enough. There is a wonderfully oat/cereal covering to the intense filling that tastes just like eating real strawberries as you get none of the fake tasting strawberry that you can sometimes get with products like this. The bar itself is so soft and really seems to melt with the mouth. The only downside of this is that I often get it all stuck to the roof of my mouth and have to spend a minute of two using my tongue to prise it off!

The Nutri-grain bars come in many different flavours but the strawberry one is certainly my favourite. The flavour is wonderful and the filling works well when eaten with the outer layer of cereal. I really feel full up when eating one of these and like Jack I am able to last over to the next meal time without thinking too much about my stomach.

They are not bad in fat and calorie content and I suppose if you are eating a bar for breakfast compared to a bowl of cereal they are rather good. Per 37gram bar you would be looking at eating 130 calories and 3 grams of fat but only 1 gram of saturated.

All in all I am happy to award these Nutri-Grain Strawberry Bake Bars a brilliant score of 5 stars as there really is not a thing I can find wrong with them. A HIGH recommendation from me!

I do hope this has been of some help/interest to you

Many thanks for taking the time to read

Summary: A nice bar for any time of the day - especially breakfast
