Advantages: tasy and nutritious
Disadvantages: none
At breakfast times I like to have differnt choices, not like my hubbie who always prefers a cooked full english. I like to variate my daily breakfast, from toast, boiled egg and soldiers, (yes even at my age I still have this) to cereal and the cereal I prefer is Rice Krispies and it has to be Kelloggs.
I don't like the cheaper brands and have tried them all for taste and crunchyness event hought they might be of good value, I have to have Kelloggs. It's funny when you eat cereal in the morning you always find that you sit at the table and read the box, however many times you might have see the Snap, Crakle and Pop characters there is always something to find to read ont he packets.
Kelloggs have done really well at their promotion campaigns over the years and these characters are famous for their antic's on television and for the offers and nutritional information they give on the box.
The packets are well known enough for me not to go into detail on the size or colour but the prices of the boxes vary from around £1.25 to £2.40 depending on which size and where you buy them from. You can even get the tiny little packets in the variety packs size along with other Kelloggs cereal well known brands.
For a quick tasty breakfast Rice Krispies is great, kids love them and so do adults. You can add sugar to them or if like me you find them too sweet with the sugar, just add your milk, cold from the fridge is the best.
There is about 275 calories in each serving which is not too bad if like me you usually have to skip lunch when your working and I find that a bowl ful of rice krispies can keep me going until it's time for tea.
They are suitable for vegetarians but if you don't have milk then your sort of stuck.....more for me.
The good thing about these is they do contain some necessary vitamins, iron, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folic acid and a few other good things the body needs.
Not only are they good for the daily light breakfast but they are great for parties. The chocolate Krispie always goes down well at kids parties and you'll usually find non left after you have made a plateful of these for the buffet.
It's an easy recipe to make, just buy a block of block milk cooking chocolate, bun cases and rice krispies.
Melt the chocolate in a pan over another pan of water, be careful not to let the top pan with the chocolate in sit in the pan of boiling water or you'll burn the chocolate and they will not only taste bad but they will not set.
As soon as the chocolate has melted stir in a generous portion of rice krispies adding a few at a time so as to coat all the rice krispies, mix until they are all covered in chocolate then spoon into the bun cases.
Leave to set and cool then they are ready to eat.It takes minutes to make and they are a great treat to make. kids love making these and it's an easy enough recipe to introduce your kids to cooking.
Have fun.
