Advantages: nice, quick snack, better than chocolate

Disadvantages: price

Well dieting is going well and to date I have lost 2.5 stone since last year, it has been a bit slow but what with moving and everything I had a break for 4 months and only put on 8lbs in that time. This was great as a lot of people had put on weight more than this just over christmas.

Now this week I have lot 1/2 stone at Weight Watchers and in looking for something new off I trotted to the bank to get some money.

Disaster, hubby forgot to put petrol in car and it conked out and I was huffing and puffing, then the bank would not take my visa card. Grrrr off to another paypoint, got me money and finally got into the shop.

As a child I used to love the Special K Cereal when it was rather small flakes. Today I never buy them as they just seem like corn flakes to me now. But I found a new product, well knew to me, also made by Kellogg's and I eat a lot of these.

The packaging of Special K is not really impressive, it is a white oblong packet about the size of a Mars Bar, whoops get out of chocolate mode quick. On the front it has what the product is and it took me ages to work out that it is pictures of 4 berries on the front.

The back is just customer details and nutritional value and really that is about it.

After all the messing today, I wanted a low cost snack to munch on, you see Saturday is the day I get weighed in and if I have treats it is normally on this day so I can pull it back the following week.

On opening the packet, there is a lovely sweet berry smell and now my mouth is dribbling all over this computer. I must buy two of everything when I review foods as I normally end up eating it first before completing it, lol. The bar is around 5 inches long and 1 inch thick. It is a compact bar of cereal and oats all mushed together and throughout the bar is little red sweet berries.

On the top is a white topping and to be honest before I read the ingredients list I thought this was icing
sugar but it is actually yoghurt, there you go, learn something new everyday. The bar is a bit sticky but who cares it will shortly be sitting in my tummy. What I like about this bar is that it is very chewy and sweet and crispy and oh boy it is just heaven. The bar stays together through out the process of eating it and has just a oaty texture but not overpowering. They are very sweet so if you just like a plain cereal bar then these would not be for you.

Oh crikes, I told you I would finish it before ending the review.

This product is suitable for vegetarians, however for those allergic to wheat and gluten it would not be.

If you are on a Slimming World Diet, then this would be good on a green day due to all the Carbohydrates.

If you are on Weightwatchers then this would be 1.5 points, now considering that the Weightwatchers bars are also 1.5 points and are full of fresh air, this is great value for money.

Who would eat this, well all sorts of people, dieters, people who want to be healthy, vegetarians and anyone who is not allergic to the ingredients.

The whole bar is around 23g in weight and is a lot healthier than a Mars Bar.

I normally have around 10 of these in the house but have to hide them sometimes as people love them and just help themselves to it.

Now at my freezer shop they are a bargain compared to the supermarkets who I have seen charge around 35p to 40p for these. I pay 29p.

I have had other cereal bars before and also the ones at Weightwatchers but they are horrible, in my opinion. This is a lovely sweet snack that does keep the rumbles of your tummy away and satisfies your craving for sweet things.

Yes these get the thumbs up, lol it would if there were any left, I have eaten two now. lol.

Oh well am off to raid the fridge to see what other goodies I can find. Oh and by the way, the car has now got petrol in
it and is sitting at the side of my house. aww.

I quite like cereal bars in general but these sound a bit over-sweet for my tastes. Sue
