Advantages: creamy, deliciously rich flavour

Disadvantages: maybe the calories...70 for a mini bar!

Kinder Surprise chocolate company was originally launched in Italy in 1972 and today it is available in many countries worldwide. The trademark red packet with white milk splashes appears on every Kinder product and in the past, the blonde haired, blue eyed boy has appeared on the packaging, however this time, there was a smiley, strawberry blonde girl on the wrapper instead. Kinder are currently running a competition in which you can enter your child to become the new face of Kinder. So there you go, all you readers with cute kids, enter away and you could get mega discount on chocolate forever or something just as good!

The chocolate I'm reviewing is the mini Kinder bars in a 16 pack where each bar weighs 12.5g. These bars come stacked in 2 rows of 8 on top of each other and currently these packets are £1 each at Tesco, so my favourite Oma (German grandmother) bought me 2!

Here are the nutritional facts per 12.5g bar:
Calories - 70
Protein - 1.3g
Carbohydrate - 6.5g
Fat - 4.3g

Each bar has 5 mini squares in it, each with a little milk glass pictured on the top and deep grooves between each piece, although given how small the bars are it is more for biting than breaking. I know the fat content seems quite high but this is due to the large percentage of milk in, so it is good fat really....or so I tell myself! It states on the outer packaging that the milk used in all Kinder products is carefully selected following strict criteria, so no worries about risking anything, as dairy is something you definitely have to be careful of these days.

Now for the taste test. I'm not going to pretend this is the first time I've had them, I love them so have eaten them many times before. When you bite into it, it almost melts in your mouth straight away, it is oh so soft and silky, this milky, creamy, luxurious chocolate and it has such a delicious flavour that you almost don't want to swallow it so that the sensation doesn't end. As soon as you bite into it, it is pure white inside, which makes you think of a tall glass of ice cold milk, rolled into this perfect little bar. Obviously there is not this much milk in one little bar but just keep thinking of the calcium, kid yourself it's really, really healthy for you and it's all good. They really are delicious!

A word of warning: keep the box hidden at all times, or get someone else to hide it for you (better idea!) because they are so devilishly moreish, personally I think they have a secret ingredient to keep you addicted. I normally like to warn about how chocolate should be enjoyed as part of a healthy, balanced diet but in this case, all warnings go out of the window, just enjoy!

Summary: taste nice out of the fridge too!
