Advantages: Reasonable tasting bread

Disadvantages: Doesn't stay fresh all that long

When it comes to bread I have to admit I'm rather fussy to what I will and won't eat. I am a bread bin and I consume about 8 slices of the stuff everyday (at least lol) and really it makes up the biggest part of what I consume, so to me it's really important!

The Packaging:

See through, navy blue and yellow plastic bag that houses about 18 slices of bread (give or take) in a row and ties with a yellow piece of plastic to one end of it and on that the best before date is clearly stamped on. On the front of the bag I'm told in large white lettering that it is Kingsmill 'Our Delicioulsy Soft White Loaf' and then I'm told that it is thick sliced and contains no artificial flavours or preservatives (doesn't mention colour though isn't that odd? lol. Other information on the bag includes being told a bit about the product, a full nutritional chart is listed, ingredients and allergy advice is given (this contains wheat, gluten and soya), size is stated (in this case it weighs 800g) and I'm told it's freezable, suitable for Vegetarians and contact details for Allied Bakeries are given (the manufacturer of this product). Nice enough distinctive packaging this is and it's very informative!

The Bread:

Wel it's a standard slices of bread really, squarish in shape, brilliant white with slight golden edges and when first bought it feels quite bouncy to the touch. I've never been impressed with the thickness of this bread and compare it to say Warburton's thick this looks skinny as hell but the crusts are mega thick (I stuggle to fit those bad boys into my toaster!). It smells like bread, looks liks bread and tastes like it too. It has a nice fresh bread aroma to it which I love and taste wise it's ok. It's well seasoned, well blended and I like it well enough apart from the fact it's a bit on the skinny side! I don't mind it for sanwiches but not so keen on it for toasting. The only other issue I have with it is that after a day of opening this it starts to not feel so fresh. I opened mine one night, used a couple slices and put it in my breadbin and the following morning the main of the bread felt a bit harder than it had when I'd last seen it. It simply didn't fel so fresh though it tasted the same. Also it does freeze well so that's a bonus!

Verdict:

This to me is ok bread but I've had far better pre-packed stuff that this and this to me is very well represented by what it's called. Everyday bread. Nothing special, but passable! I wouldn't avoid it but at about £1.13 a loaf I'd try others before thinking this is the buisness lol.

Nutritional Advice Per Slice:

Energy: 102Kcal

Available in all good supermarkets, convenience stores etc and at the moment this loaf is on offer in Tesco stores at a pound a loaf, so worth trying at that price if your interested!

Summary: It's alright I just can't rave about it lol
