Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Too gooey too sweet
Kit Kat had been one of my favourite and most reliable sweet snacks until Nestle took over and messed around with the recipe. Nevertheless, I was intrigued when I came across this Kit Kat Orange Edition. Well, no I wasn't intrigued but having previously only ventured as far as the dark chocolate Kit Kat, I thought I'd give this orange flavoured variety a try. I was also seduced by the fact that I'd recently acquired and addiction for orange flavoured chocolate bars that go very nicely with a cup of freshly ground coffee.
Upon opening my first Orange flavoured special edition Kit Kat there was I admit in sufficient quantity the glorious odour of milk chocolate tinged with a delicate pleasant orange scent that together held out the promise of an enjoyable tasty little feast. These initial impressions however where a deception for when I did take my first bite, I was overwhelmed with a sickening disappointment bordering on disgust. I hadn't suspected the sickly jelly like goo slithering beneath the chocolate layer. What lunatic decided to adulterate the Kit Kat in such a fashion? Not only was the texture and consistency horrible, I found the orange flavour to be very artificial and this combined with the other over sweetened contents totally detracted from any enjoyment I might have gained from the chocolate wafer biscuit. In essence this Kit Kat Orange edition was a catastrophe.
I hasten to add that this is not a review of the orange flavoured Kit Kat that is now available in the form of a 9 pack. This is the orange edition Kit Kat that as far as I can make out is no longer available. They were possibly withdrawn because of their outstanding unpopularity. Please inform me if they do still exist and I will update my review. My Kit Kat Orange edition was priced at around 40p and sold in as an individual bar although I do believe they were sold in packs of three. If you do come across one, steer clear.
Summary: Another adulterated Kit Kat

- 28/08/09 I'll steer clear, all right!
Thanks. |

- 14/08/09 Chocolate companies just can't be bothered to come up with new brand names so tend to mess up perfectly good originals!
So is it like a kit-kit cross jaffa cake? Yuck. Nice descriptions in this one. |

- 05/06/09 I tried these but they made me sick as a dog. Terrys do it better sometimes when it comes to Chocolate Orange but I agree with you that the wafer makes all the difference with a cup of good coffee. |
