Rating:

Advantages: Great texture and only 107 calories per 21g bar.

Disadvantages: Can be a bit sickly and takes away the original flavour of the Kit kat.

Brand: Nestlé
Introduced: 1935
Kit Kat Orange was introduced in 1996 in the UK
Type: Confectionary

~ Overview ~

The Kit Kat has been around since 1935 so what do you do if you want to appeal to a wider audience; the answer is to create new tastier flavours of Kit Kat. It was released in 1996 and became a hit with lots of orange chocolate bar lovers. The brand is a worldwide item which is manufactured in 15 different counties.

~ My opinion ~

As I am a big Kit Kat lover, especially the original chocolate bar I decided to try the orange version for the first time, I was quite surprised as it was quite sickly after two bars and found that it took away the original flavours of a Kit Kat. I could only manage two bars of a four bar Kit Kat but still you can save the rest for your next break. A tip would be to buy the chunky bar as it is just right for my taste buds.

I personally found that after two bars of this it became a bit too much, but in small doses it is quite a tasty snack. Credit goes to Kit Kat as changing a bar of chocolate can be risky and the only negative is that it did take away the original Kit Kat taste which sometimes takes away the quality of the product.

The orange taste tends to be a bit overwhelming and the wafers taste is lost in this version of the Kit Kat. If you are an orange lover then you will like this product, but in my opinion it ran out of juice.

~ Nutritional Information ~

Calories per bar: 107
Protein: 1.3g
Fat: 5.6g
Fibre: 0.2g
Salt: 0.1g

~ Price ~

I tend to buy my orange Kit Kat's from ASDA for £1.00 for a pack of nine (21g). ASDA is the cheapest and the next best is Tesco's.

~ Interesting facts ~

- The Kit Kat was originally named Chocolate Crisp

- The chunky Kit Kat in America is called the Big Kat

- After the end of the Second World War Dark chocolate had to be used for a coating instead of the milk chocolate coating we have today due to milk shortages.

- Originally it was owned by Rowntree's before Nestle took over.

~ Other varieties of Kit Kat released over the world ~

Kit Kat Original
Kit Kat White (released in Spain and Japan)
Kit Kat Iced Tea (released in Japan)
Kit Kat Caramel and Salt (Japan)
Kit Kat Mint (UK and the USA)
Kit Kat Peach (Japan)
Kit Kat Caramac (UK only)
Kit Kat Pineapple (South Africa)
Kit Kat Lite (India)
Kit Kat Pumpkin (Japan)
Kit Kat (Banana)
Kit Kat Mango (Japan)
Kit Kat Orange (UK and USA)

So as you can see above many different flavours have been made but only really to suit those countries. The above list is not the entire list but just gives you an idea of what else is out there and especially the Caramel and salt, what were they thinking? Anyway I don't think I would be rushing out to buy that any time soon.

~ Slogan ~

"Have a break, have a Kit Kat"

~ Summary ~

Taste: 2/5
Novelty: 3/5
Texture: 4/5

~ Overall Rating ~
2/5

Summary: A different choice of chocolate bar for those who like the original Kit Kat!

OMG I didn't know Kit-Kat made so many different flavours, thanks for filling me in on this , great review and I must say I could quite happily have a full box of the Mango ones , as for the caramel and salt ......now this will sound strange but this would be a brilliant one for my son and I as we unlike you lot , have to eat around 2 tablespoons of salt a day to live and its pretty hard going sometimes, so Kit-Kat's with salt .....bring it on .
