Advantages: Good chocoalte / orange balance

Disadvantages: None in particular

I am a big fan of KitKat and very much enjoy the standard milk chocolate varieties whether it be the traditional two and four finger stick bars or the relavtively newer Chunky bar. I am a bit wary of mixing flavours with chococlate as sometimes it just doesn't work out even though it sounds good in theory. I have tried Terry's Chocolate Orange and quite liked that combination so am willing to try others. So when I saw these multipacks in Tesco I bought it.

KitKat has been around for ages, since 1935, but it was a while before they started experimenting with different flavours. Orange was the first flavour they came up with in 1996. Then came dark and mint. These come in a multipack of nine two-stick bars. The packaging is a mix of the traditional bright red and orange with some juicy looking oranges in the background. Each bar has just 107 calories. Inside each bar is individually wrapped in foil and then in paper.

Each bar has two sticks. Each stick has several layers of wafer and milk chocolate stacked up and covered in milk chocolate that is flavoured with orange. Now as with all KitKats this has the same famililar snap sound and crispiness of the layers of wafer. The chocoalte is also rich and creamy and has the perfect chocolate to wafer ratio. The orange aspect of it is nice and not too overpowering, you can still detect the milk chocolateyness of the bar and it isn't at all bitter. However from my point of view, the orange here does not work quite as well as it does for Terry's and though this is nice enough for a change I think I prefer the purity of the original KitKat so think. These cost £1.41 a pack though can currently be bought at Tesco on a 2 for £2 offer.

Summary: The original is still the best
