When it comes to selecting a delicious little snack, I often opt for a Kit Kat, and for this, there are many reasons! But when it comes to choosing which one in particular, the flavour, size and pleasure all come into consideration...

-----HISTORY-----
The original Kit Kat was created by Rowntrees, all the way down in York, in 1935, when it was given the name Chocolate Crisp. It went through various other names, such as Kit Kat Crisp, before settling on just 'Kit Kat' after the second world war.
The first Kit Kat came in the four-finger range, providing that pleasant combination of chocolate and wafer. Over seventy years later, Kit Kats have sold worldwide, fashioning all sorts of new and interesting flavours and sizes.
For example, Japan have shelved a Kit Kat Bitter, and Australia have their Kit Kat Mint Rush.

Over in the UK, we have seen many forms of Kit Kat, some Limited Edition offers, others permanent to stay forever!
But the most common would definitely have to be the original four-finger treat, or the smaller version of the two-finger Kit Kat! Apparently, over 800 million two-finger Kit Kats were sold in the UK! That's a lot of snacking!

-----ME AND MY KIT KATS!-----
Kit Kats have been one of my favourite biscuits (is it a biscuit, or a sweet?) for years, providing me a simple, easy to eat snack from such a young age. I adored my Kit Kat, the cupboard was never without them!
I remember always having a two-finger Kit Kat in my lunchbox at school. I'd rush through my sandwich and the occasional packet of crisps (usually the messy cheesy wotsits!), to make sure I had enough time to dive into my biscuit.
I'd peel back the red and white paper on the outside, often finding some competition offer on the back of it. Flinging that carelessly back in my lunchbox, I'd place the Kit Kat, wrapped in it's silver foil, carefully on the top of my 'box. I'd rub gently over the top of the foil, so the words 'Kit Kat' were revealed, imprinted on the top of the chocolate!
After that short period of fun, I'd rip off the foil, and snap my biscuit into two deliciously scented separate fingers. The sweet smell of chocolate filled around as I sucked on the end of a finger. The creamy milk chocolate would begin to melt in my mouth, revealing the wafer which was hidden away inside. After I'd reached this crunchy centre, I'd stop the sucking, and bite away at the Kit Kat, making my way towards the bottom, until it was all gone.
Alas, I thought it was all over. I'd devoured my treat quicker than I knew was possible. But then I'd remember about the second finger, which was still balancing on top of my plastic lunch box, awaiting my teeth to munch into it. I always seemed to eat this second one differently. I wouldn't suck it, nor would I bite straight into it. I always nibbled away at the edges first, peeling off the fine layers of delectable chocolate from the sides, followed by the top layer. All that was left was a block of chocolate-smothered wafer, sitting on a fine layer of milk chocolate. I could never decide how to eat this bit, so more often than not, I'd end up shoving the whole finger in my mouth in one go (thinking about the fact that I was only young, still in Primary school, and my 'gob' would still be quite little!) The sweet sensation of the Kit Kat never did last very long with me.

I remember when Kit Kat Chunkies first came out, in 1999. I would have been about eight. I was dying to sample these, and couldn't wait to compare them with the original. If I remember correctly, I enjoyed my Chunky in front of the TV, which is always the best way to relax and indulge on sugar! Since then, I always choose the Chunky over the original (not because of the size though!). The chocolate seems so much creamier, and as for the wafer, it seems to blend in better with the rest of the snack! I'd always take a Chunky with me to munch on after Swimming Lessons at school. But I Haven't had the pleasure of enjoying an original Chunky is a year or two, and I still remember that day! We'd been doing a Sponsored Walk for the school, and it lasted about five hours. It rained. It was freezing...I needed a sugar rush to boost my spirits and warm me up, and thankfully I had a Chunky at hand to rescue me! Bliss!

I've had a sample at majority of the Kit Kat options that were released in the UK, and have a solid option on each;
*White Chocolate*
I sampled this in the four-finger range, devouring it in an instant! I adore white chocolate, much more than I do milk, so there was no question of whether I'd like it or not. Since it was made my Nestle, the chocolate tasted almost identical to that of the Milky Bar - very sweet and exceptionally creamy - just the way I like it! I've only had this one a few times, as I don't see it anywhere anymore!
*Lemon Lime*
Nope, I didn't like this one at all. I thought it would be pleasurable, considering it was with the white chocolate, but it didn't taste much of lemon, more so the lime (and I'm not struck on lime). The smell was just as revolting.
*Orange*
The two-finger Kit Kat orange has been out for quite a number of years now, with the soft orange flavoured cream spread out on the top of the wafer. They're really nice to taste, but the smell seems a bit too 'orangey' for my liking!
*Caramac*
Oh my, when this came out, I was amazed! Caramacs were my favourite chocolate bar to munch on all the way home from school when I was in the Infants! And now it came in Kit Kat form, I was in heaven! Straight away I tried this option, and loved its sickly sweet aroma and creamy taste!
*Caramel Chunky*
I haven't seen this option in a number of years. I don't know why, it was delicious! I'd always take a bite, then use my tongue to scoop out the super sticky caramel filling. It was great dipped in a steaming cup of tea...!
*Tiramisu Chunky*
I thought this was a really unusual combination, making the Kit at brand even more unique! I did sample it, but it was far too rich in chocolate for me, all the different kinds piled into the snack. Not for me.
*Peanut Butter Chunky*
Most likely the most recent Kit Kat I have tried is the peanut butter. It came out at the correct time for me, as I went through a phase of a peanut butter sandwich addiction around the same month! The taste is so rich and creamy! I think I may buy one of these today...!
*Berry Chunky*
Remember the red Kit Kat chunkies that came out a few years ago on special edition? They were really hard to find near where I lived! Whether that was because they were so popular and everybody bought them, or it was because few were made, I don't know. But when I finally did get my hands on one, I was thrilled! Waiting did pay off, when I sank my teeth into the soft chocolate to reveal some sort of strawberry puree hidden inside the wafer!


Looking at the list given on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KitKat#KitKat_varieti es, there seems to be an awfully large variety of Kit Kats released all over the world! Some sound awful, such as the Kiwifruit, but there are loads I'd like to try as well...

Of course, I cannot give the nutritional information for each and every Kit Kat (!) so I shall state them for the original two-finger Kit Kat option...
In every two-fingers, you can find;
106 calories
1.2g protein
13g carbohydrates (of which 10.46 sugars)
5.5g fat
0.2g fibre

What do I think of this? I'm not entirely sure. It doesn't seem too bad (when I checked the nutrition for the Chunky, I nearly fell off my seat!)
That means there's 53 calories in one finger. When you look at it like that, it doesn't seem so extreme! I wouldn't eat it every day any more, but if I fancied something chocolaty, a Kit Kat is definitely a better option!

-----KIT KATS AND YOU-----
My way of in taking a Kit Kat may seem quite weird to you, as a lot of people just eat them normally (the 'sensible' way!). I know a few people who put the biscuit in the fridge for a few hours beforehand, and others who dip it in a cup of tea (I'll do this occasionally, but not always).
The Kit Kat biscuit does make a fantastic lunchbox filler, not taking up too much room, and is slightly healthier than a lot of other biscuits, not forgetting the spectacular taste!
Because you can buy them in multipacks, Kit Kats also make fantastic treats to pack away in the cupboard, rather than buying them individually from the shop, which would work out slightly pricier!).


-----NEW VARIETIES-----
I can't really find anything negative to say about the Kit Kat, except that some new varieties should be made! Here are some I've thought of;

Honey and White Chocolate
Fudge
Marshmallow and White Chocolate
Rhubarb and Custard
