Advantages: Tasty snack

Disadvantages: Unhealthy

Kit Kat! It's one of those classic chocolate bars that has been around for absolutely yonks and will probably continue too. It was first created by those gods of everything tasty, Rowntree's of York in 1935 when a factory worker put a suggestion in the suggestion box asking for a snack 'that a man could have in his lunch box for work.' I'm not sure why there weren't any snacks he couldn't already fit in his lunch box but hey!

Kit Kat bars are sold all over the world in countries like, USA, Spain, Australis, Japan, India and of course good old blighty. There are many varieties including some absolutely fabulous flavours in Japan such as Cherry Blossom, Mango, Soybean Flour, Caramel & Salt and Chesnut. I'm starting to think that it's becoming well worth a visit to Japan just for the sake of sampling the local Kit Kats. The classic Kit Kat in the UK is two fingered but you can buy a whopping 12 finger bar in Australia!

The first regional variety of Kit Kat in the UK was the orange flavour Kit Kat released in 1996. Orange flavour chocolate was already widesold at the time due to the existance of Terry's Chocolate Orange so it wasn't too much of a gamble, but I like it and it obviously payed off as it is still on sale 13 years later!

Orange Kit Kats are sold in multipacks and the bars themselves are the two finger format. They are wrapped in foil with a paper strip. I like to open mine by running my finger down the foil in the middle and snapping the two fingers apart while they still have the foil on them! When you do open the bar you are hit by a lovely orangey aroma.

The Kit Kat itself was the same as a normal Kit Kat - a creamy filling sandwiched between two wafer biscuits and covered in milk chocolate but the chocolate was orange flavoured which just 'works.' I'm not sure why the flavour of something healthy like orange goes so well with something as unhealthy as chocolate! I really enjoyed it but I do prefer the cappuccino flavour.

Kit Kat orange are available in multipacks of 9 from most supermarkets for £1.36, this works out at 15p a bar which is absolutely fantastic value! They also only contain 107 calories and 5.6g of fat per bar which isn't very much compared to other chocolate bars.

Summary: Kit Kat Orange

I remember a few years back, loads of chocolate brands brought out an orange version, the kit kat ones are nice!
