Advantages: not overly orange
Disadvantages: not overly orange!
I've found two fingers of KitKat will satisfy my chocolate cravings without the guilt of bundles of calories, so when I found my local supermarket had packs of ten two-finger KitKats on a BOGOF, I chucked two packets in my trolley quick. One normal KitKat, one orange.
I can't remember ever having an orange KitKat before, so it was with a bit of trepidation that I opened my first.
On opening the foil, you get a faint whiff of oranges. So far so good.
The snap of separating the fingers is good and clean, bringing a aroma of chocolate and orange. The taste? Like a KitKat that's been rubbed with an orange. The chocolate is light and sweet, with the biscuit providing a crunch while bulking out the little snack.
The verdict? The orange flavouring gives the KitKat a freshness that is very pleasant and aromatic, while not over-powering the chocolate hit.
Other chocolate orange products can become quite sickly, I find, but I'm sure I could probably eat two of these in a row without feeling icky!
Now, the boring nutritional bits.
Per two-finger Orange KitKat, there is:
107 calories and 5.4g of fat helpfully that's all they tell you. Hmmm. However, they tell you all you could ever want in relation to 100g: 510 calories, 4.4g of protein, 42.8g of carbs and 25.6g of fat.
So a quick calculation later, I can tell you that each two-finger bar is approx. 21g each. Tiny really.
Summary: they are a nice alternative to normal KitKats, but if you want a Terry's Chocolate Orange type of orange hit, give it a miss as you'll be left wanting
Summary: depends what you want from your orange hit
