Knorr Stock Pots

Description: Manufacturer: Knorr / Type: Soups

... pack you get 8 plastic pots of a gel like stock. You can either dissolve one of these in 500ml of boiling water or add straight to soups, casseroles etc. I've tried both the beef and the vegetable one. The vegetable one is a light brown with plenty of chopped herbs visible so looks a lot more 'real' than a cube. The beef one is a darker colour and looks more meaty. They are very easy to use and dissolve instantly with hardly any need for stirring. I think they provide a full rich flavour and are ideal when you do ...more

I have been using these ingenious stock pots for a while now and think they are a wonderful invention and certainly the closest you can get to real stock without hours of boiling chicken carcasses and so on (seriously - who has time to do that!?). I have used both the chicken and the vegetable versions and ensure that I always have some in the cupboard now as they are very versatile and reliable. They can be expensive - full price they cost around £1.80 for a pack of 8 little pots, however I have noticed that these are one of those products which get rotated in and out of special offers so I usually wait until they are rolled back to £1 in Asda and then stock ...  Read the complete review

Most people have seen the adverts on TV featuring top chef Marco Pierre White using these new knorr stock pots whilst cooking for his children, so I decided whilst they were on offer at Tesco recently for 2 for £2 (usual price is just under £2 for one packet of 8 pots) I would give them a go. I purchased the vegetable stock pots, but they also come in chicken and beef as well. On the front of the packaging, it states clearly that there are no artificial flavour enhancers in the stock pots. On the side of the packaging, it also claims that the stock pots contain no artificial colours or preservatives, and are also suitable for vegetarians and for those on a ...  Read the complete review

I normally like to cook meals totally from scratch including stocks for casseroles, but last week I was a bit pushed for time so I bought a pack of Knorr Beef Stock Pots in a bid to save time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Price and availability ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Priced at £1.44 in Asda for a pack of 8, I felt they were a bit expensive compared to products like Oxo, but I was sucked into buying them by the manufacturers blurb on the side of the packaging and the fact that they are semi-endorsed by Marco Pierre White. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Manufacturers claims ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The blurb on the packaging reads as follows - ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I Wont Be Keeping A Stock Of Stock Pots In My Cupboard (635 words)

The secret to a good soup is starting with a good quality stock for the base. I make my own chicken stock by boiling down chicken bones with water and it makes an exceptionally tasty soup but when I make my lentil soup only knorr ham cubes will do. I had spotted the knorr stock pots on the shelves of the supermarkets several times and wondered if they were any good but the price of around £2 for a box of eight potions put me off. Luckily one day they were on half price offer so I chucked them into my trolley. Knorr claim that these stock pots are "a rich concentrated stock made from selected meats, herbs and spices that are gently simmered into a ...  Read the complete review

I have been making a lot of home made soups recently as the weather has been getting colder and have been using these new Knorr stock Pots having previously used Oxo cubes. I must admit that I first tried them as they were new and I thought a bit of a gimmick but I do really like them. They have been advertised on the television by chef Marco Pierre White so I thought well if they're good enough for him, they're good enough for me. The stock comes as a little gel pack which basically looks to me like a little jelly pot but with a meat flavoured colour. It's like you could almost grab a spoon and dig in like a jelly but then they probably would not ...  Read the complete review
