Newest Review: ... these from Tesco when they were on a 2 for £2 offer (ordinarily £1.98 each) so clearly quite a bit more than cubes. In each pack you get 8... more

Advantages: None

Disadvantages: Very salty taste and high salt content

I bought a pack of Knorr Stock Pots from Tesco because they were on buy one get one free. That meant that I got 16 of these for £1.44 which looked like a good deal.

Each one in a plastic pot filled with concentrated beef stock and you simply add 500 mils of water to get your stock. I must admit that I didn't read the outside labelling before I used one of these to flavour a beef stew. The smell was not at all like beef stew; it was just kind of spicy, peppery and greasy.

I sat down to eat my beef stew to which I had added no salt and was amazed at just how salty it was. A look on the product outer wrapper told me why. A 100ml portion of stock made with this product gives 19% of the daily recommended amount of salt for an adult.

I could not eat the stew as it was far too salty. What a waste of £1.44 for the stock pots and all that chicken and vegetables. The other fifteen pots will end up is the dustbin and I will be writing to Knorr, not that it will get me anywhere, but I will feel better.

Another ridiculous thing about this product is that it says very boldly on the cardboard sleeve that it only has 5 calories per 100 mils serving, and is suitable for coeliac diet. It has no artificial flavour enhances and no artificial colours and no msg.

It even tells you how carefully Knorr have selected their ingredients for this premium product. What a pity they spoilt all this healthy sounding information by going mad with the salt.

A complete waste of money. Very unhealthy and too salty to eat.

Summary: A waste of money and far too much salt for an adult, let alone a child.
