Advantages: Pretty tasty if you are in the mood

Disadvantages: too much hassle

I remember as a kid, pestering and bugging my mom nonstop until she would finally give in and get me a tub of KP Choc Dips. I recently got a tub, after twenty odd years of growing up, and I don't know why the child version of me was so desperate for them.

Each little plastic tub, resembling a small cup, with a peel off lid, contains a bunch of biscuit sticks, kind of like breadsticks, each one around three inches long. You'll maybe get ten sticks in each tub. Taking up half of the opening of the tub, is a reservoir of chocolate. Depending on the temperature, the state of this chocolate can range anywhere from gloopy to rock hard.

The idea is, you take your biscuit stick, and dunk it in the chocolate. That's it. This is what 6 year old me was so excited about. I guess maybe it's the whole excitement of making your own chocolate biscuit, but after a while it just gets annoying. It is definitely more of a kids treat, than a serious snack for adults. In fact, I'm pretty sure that if you were seen eating one on a bus or on the subway, you would get some pretty odd looks. And it's not just that. In this day and age, where we are all busy, carrying MP3 players and mobiles, how often do we have two hands free to walk along with a tub of chocolate in one hand and a biscuit stick in the other?

The chocolate itself is alright, but not really the greatest - I guess KP aren't really known for their chocolate products though. You have to be pretty sparing to get enough chocolate for each biscuit, and even then, you kind of have to judge how much you take each time, cause the last thing you want to end up with is leftover chocolate and no biscuits left to dip in it! The biscuits are pretty bland, and non descript, but work quite well with the chocolate.

The tubs aren't all that cheap, costing more than an actual packet of chocolate biscuits in some instances, and the amount of packaging used is a bit of a disgrace.

They are good fun for children, and will keep them happy as a treat, but adults? Just say no!

Summary: Bit of a kid's product - tastes nice, but why do I have to coat my own biscuits?

I was never allowed these when I were a boy - guess I wasn't missing much! :)
