Advantages: my son likes them

Disadvantages: reminds me of cardboard

I spotted a multi pack of KP discos when looking for some crisps for my son. Despite been only two and a half he prefers what I term "normal" crisps in comparison to the corn puff crisps.

The pack was 99p for 8 packs which was 2 cheese and onion, 2 salt and vinegar and 2 bacon, then two free packs which can be any two of the flavours. Our pack contained and extra salt and vinegar and bacon.

These crisp instantly take me back to my childhood. I only remember salt and vinegar flavour but can sing the son in my head now "we are disco's, we're disco's, we are rounder if you take a look" so decided to give my son a try on them.

He is instantly attracted by the shiny wrapper which is foiled sealed unlike the days when I was younger which helps to seal in freshness.

My son does love crisps but was extra excited to see there were round. He insisted on telling me that every crisp in the packet was a circle which did grow a little weary and towards the end of the pack when there were broken crisps his enthusiasm for trying to work out the shape faded although he continued to munch his way through the bag till he announced "All gone" then promptly handed me the crisp packet so a very strong endorsement from my son.

I did believe that I would be a much tougher consumer to please as I had the added nostalgia to live up to.

The crisps are about 10cm in diameter are in similar in appearance to Pringles although flatter, very light and no obvious flavouring. I found that the taste of the actual crisp reminded me of cardboard the salt and vinegar in mind blowing strong. I have to say that I found the taste disappointing and found that they were not only just a disappointment due to my high expectations but they were the least appetising crisps I have eaten in a long time.

Nutritional information

The pack advertises that it now has no artificial, colours, flavourings or msg

The fat and calorie values are very similar dependant upon the flavour so I have listed the values for a pack of Salt and vinegar which contains 28g.

Kcals 146
Fat8.3g
Sodium0.3 g

While reasonable values for crisps I am actually surprised that the salt content is so low.

Allergy information

Contains: wheat, milk and gluten
Also made on a line that handles Soya

I am sure my sons will happily munch his way through the rest of the bag no matter what the flavour .The only positive for me I can see is that it would be crisps for my son that I wouldn't be tempted to eat when he is in bed.

Summary: Recommeded by my son but not myself
