I'm sure most of us have had Kraft Cheesey Pasta. In my view it is a cheap and easy to make meal, and I often have a box in the cupboard for those can't be bothered eating much times!
This is sold in a 190g box and costs abot 90p in Supermarkets. Sometimes you get offers such as 3 for £2 etc, but often it is just the normal price, which is pretty cheap anyway!
This is in a red box, so it stands out on the shelf easily. I normally find this around the Pot Noodle/Pasta breaks aisles. There is a picture in the front of this pasta cooked, and it looks nice and Cheesy. On the sides of the box is the cooking instructions, and on the back is the nutritional information. Inside the box is a bag of Pasta and a sachet of Cheese Powder. The Pasta is short tubes, and you cook this first and then add the Cheese Powder later. The Powder is really orange, and once all cooked then you will see how orange this really is!
So how do you cook this? You can cook this in the Microwave, but I never have, so will advise how to cook on the hob. So you boil some water and add a little Salt to it. You put all the Pasta in and cook it until it is cooked. Then you drain all the water and return the dry cooked Pasta to the pot. You add 50g of Butter/Marg and 50ml of milk. You will find that the butter melts over the hot Pasta and the Milk adds a good sheen to it, and makes it slimey. Then you pour the Cheese powder over the lot and stir until it becomes a sauce. All the Pasta gets covered in the Cheese Sauce easily, but you won't find it a runny Sauce, it just sticks to the Pasta, which is good anyway. It is really, really Cheesy, but it doesn't taste that fake cheese way. It's hard to explain the taste of this, but it is nice even if it isn't a typical Cheddar taste.
The bit I don't get about this product is that on the box it says the box serves 2 people as a meal, or more than 2 as a snack, or teamed with something else. I cannot eat a whole box myself, but I think I can eat about 90% even if I have some Chips, so i'm not sure who this figure is aimed at - perhaps kids!
I can't think of the nutritional infotmation, but it is pretty high in fat and calories probably due to the Cheese in this.
A great cupboard essential.
