Advantages: FULL TASTE FOR A LOW CALORIE DRESSING ALTERNATIVE...
Disadvantages: OBVIOUSLY NOT AS CREAMY AS FULL FAT...
It really should be my daughter reviewing this stuff as she simply adores it!
'Kraft Light Thousand Island Sauce' is a product I have been using for many a year rather than the full fat version of the original Thousand Island flavour.
Being on a Weight Watchers diet, I have to watch every scrap of fatty foodstuffs I put into my body and let's face it creamy, rich sauces are one of the quickest ways to consume hidden calories?
Sold in an instantly recognisable recyclable glass container, Kraft's low fat dressing is marketed in a chucky base and then elongated necked bottle. Personally I think anything that makes a manufacturers product stand out from the supermarket shelves has to be a winner for them, and this different shaped bottle certainly does the trick...
250 ml is the size I am reviewing and to my knowledge the only size they do. Made in Germany there is actually a free phone UK helpline on the back label for any problems or queries.
The bottle has two labels on it, the neck label with all the nutritional info and a pretty picture of a nicely dressed salad and a few prawns - however I do hasten to add this dressing is suitable for vegetarians as well as carnivores.
The bottom label has a description of its bottled contents: 'A tangy twist of tomatoes and spices' although the colour of the sauce is best describes as 'flesh'. Deeper than a cream hue but definitely not a tomotoey shade.
Now I use this dressing for its traditional prawn cocktail use although it can be used as a filling to moisten a sandwiches contents or as a tasty, tangy dip.
With a best before date of several months in advance this Thousand Island style dressing keeps perfectly fine in the metal capped sealed bottle. Once opened the advice is to consume within six weeks and obviously keep it refrigerated of course.
Now the calories are a huge consideration for me with any creamy sauce and this is where Kraft come into there own as there are only 15 calories in each 1m ml serving - fabulous for a deep creamy flavour methinks!
Sugars are 2.9 grams and there is literally only trace fats included and a salt content of 0.3 grams too.
Ingredients include spirit vinegar, 11% tomato puree and lemon juice concentrate so you can tell this dressing has quite a kick to it!
The smell for me is mouth-watering; the tomato is very much in evidence as you can imagine and the vinegar and lemon give it quite a taste which is softened slightly with the red fruit's sweetness.
I guess really this is the sea world's sweet and sour sauce to my palate!?
There are onions and gherkins at 2.2% included and mustard seed flour so there are some deep rich flavours and a smooth texture to the dressing pitted with chopped small pieces of green gherkin and tiny speckles of spices...
Despite being low fat this intense sauce certainly packs a punch so you could always do what I do and dilute the pungent essence of it by adding a good dollop of low fat mayo which seems to tame the flavour a bit.
Price wise I paid £1.18 for my last bottle but I did cannily get BOGOF on the product making it an even better buy.
As a flavour-packed accompaniment for all kinds of seafood or dips I think this sauce is simply wonderful so a creamy and yet slightly bitter sauce with a sweet aftertaste deserves a full 5 Dooyoo Stars as it's wonderful in my opinion!

Summary: AN EXCELLENT SAUCE FOR SEAFOOD OR SALADS...
